Which flavor do you like the best. That's the one I would go with.

If your trying to watch carbs, go with the one that has the least amount of sugars and carbs. Fat is going to be the good kind so for example that won't be as bad as going for 0% fat but 18g of sugar

I eat plain greek yogurt, with the highest fat possible (limited by what my local store will stock). Whenever fat is reduced, carbs increase. With other products, "low fat" often means added sugar or artificial sweeteners. I enjoy full fat everything and by doing that, have gotten rid of food addictions and binging. In fact, it's sometimes hard to meet my calorie goal even though 65% of my diet is fat. I'm just not hungry and for someone who normally overeats uncontrollably all the time, that is awesome! lol

Personally I like Chobani's 2% line ... but it's whatever you like and what you're looking for ... I prefer low or full fat as I need fat as part of my diet ... however, for me, the bigger preference would be style ... I really like the greek style yogurts that are lower in carbs and higher in protein ...

But I'm weird ... I even started growing my own wheat grass (some hippie in me coming out or something) lol :)

This is what I do, but with plain stevia. LOVE it.

I am generally not supportive of "low fat" products because they tend to add a bunch of other crap - sugar, salt, etc. But with yogurt, it's still the same ingredients: milk and active cultures. And I can get the same level of protein for much fewer calories which leaves more room for me to eat other food later :)

Not in the case of plain greek yogurt. No additional carbs, no added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

    227g Fage 0%: 130 cals, 9 g carbs, 23 g carbs
    227g Fage 4%: 220 cals, 9g carbs, 20g protein

In this case, the 0% actually seems like a better choice if you're after protein. No added carbs, as you can see. Info is from Fage's website.

This is why, when it comes to Greek yogurt, I've chosen skimmed. I also prefer to eat most of my fat in the forms of nuts, nut butters, and my dream food: avocado.

OP, I'd go by the taste you prefer and the calories you have to fill.

Thanks everyone. Looks like the 0% would be the way to go since it is similar carbs and protein but lower calorie

Thanks for the info. I live in a remote community and I've never heard of Fage. I'm lucky that there is Oikos in our store now (7 g carbs per 175g), since all the others are the low fat splenda/aspartame sweetened junk. I can also make my own, but my last batch failed miserably.

I'd still go with the higher fat, personally, if I had access to it. But that's just me since I do better when I eat most of my calories from fat. Also, I'm usually having to eat a big snack at night to get close to my calorie goal so I don't want to cut fat and start being hungry, or have to "fill up" on other stuff.

Trader Joe's is my favorite, and I usually buy the 2%. Last time I bought the full fat since we use it as a sub for sour cream so often, but was shocked to find a cop of full fat only has 9g of protein, while the 2% has 24g! So 2% it is for me, at least with Trader Joe's.
  • I'm not a fan of Chobani's at all....

I like Oikos.. Although, I'm still waiting for John Stamos to appear!!! LOL

Fage all the way. I love the thickness of it. I normally get 0% fat, plain, and add in a tbsp of fruit preserves or fruits.
