I like your style......I'm 57 and I'm too old to hide my feelings, although I try to be kind and not hurt feelings. Some people can't take truth even though they profess to. I avoid the "dating site" type posts as I don't feel that is what MFP is about. I still have about 15 more pounds that I want to lose and I will never be a size 4 again. What I have gained from my year plus on this site is a group of friends that I can help and support, and they do the same back. I also have lost enough weight that I am healthier and more energetic than i was when i was 40 or 45. I have added exercise as a necessary part of my life and have been able to motivate some friends and family members to change some things in their lives. I'd be happy to be your friend......add me if you would like.

you can choose to add me if you want. here is my story: right now i have about 10 lb to lose but i've already lost 20. Post baby I was falling into the overweight category by more than a few pounds for my height (I'm only 5'4") so I started back in last August. I've learned a lot since that point. I"m trying to apply what i learned to keep the weight off that I've lost and slowly work at the remaining 10ish lbs... not sure at this point if I even want to lose 10 anymore. i may just accept myself and move on. I think I'm a "real person"... i have problems with binge eating at times and so I'm working on that. Although I've met some of my goals I still think of it as a journey.

Hi, feel free to add me. This is my second time on this site and I need all the friends I can get. I like when people say good job, way to go, or watch your sodium, fat levels. anything is nice. Keeps me motivated and ready to always do better. I have a bout 120 lbs to lose.
anyone can add me if they would like.

Good luck on your journey to a healthier you!!
  • You can add me if you'd like. I have around 100 pounds to lose so I'm not worried about a size 4 making me look fat :)

what makes the people with less weight to lose less "real?" At some point you'll hopefully be someone with 5-10 pounds to lose..will you then no longer be "real?" That's a shame really. Some of the people who are most encouraging and supportive might not be the ones you would define as "real."

I agree. I am very tiny and a little weight goes a long way on me. I call myself the marshmallow with toothpick arms and legs.

me too. i have a smaller frame and it always accumulates in the middle. things are a bit better now, but us short people have our struggles with the gain in the middle it seems like....

i don't think the op was trying to offend anyone. everyone has their own story to tell and their own journey ahead. i think what the op is suggesting is that she is likely looking for someone in a similar situation as she is who she can chat with and relate to. as for me, my friends are people in similar situations as i am so that i can bounce ideas off of them, learn from what they are going thru as well, and have someone that can listen to the frustrations that i have. and i think the op is looking for the same. i have very little in common with a guy who works out 7 days a week in the gym, and will struggle to relate to his frustration of only bench pressing 215 pounds. i don't think he will be helpful to my journey, nor i to his. the purpose of having friends here, to me, is that someone can share my joys and feel my pain. i can't get excited about someone finally lifting the heavy weight or share in the frustration of someone that is frustrated b/c they missed a gym session, but went the other 6 days this week. as in our real life, outside of mfp, we are friends with people we have similar interests with, people who we can relate to, and people that can share the ups and downs of life. i don't see why it would be different here.

perhaps, however, the op could've worded the post differently. to each his own. good luck to all.

That is the best comment i have heard in a long time. 5-10 -15-20 doesn't matter it is all relative and a doesn't make you less real because you are now at the 5 - 10 bls to lose side of the spectrum.

Well aren't you a treat. 7 months ago when I was fat I might've been real enough for you. Not sure if I qualify now, but best wishes--I think.

I'd like to think I'm real even though I am a size 4.... Idk what to think of that comment...

I love fitness and nutrtion and I need something that keeps me accountable. That's why I'm here. I love my MFP friends and give/get support all the time.

Still not sure what to think about your statement... as I can see other aren't sure either..

Hi! I'm 46 years old. My diary is closed because I know that if I have to answer to anyone else I my not be so honest :blushing: I drink beer (most of the time I budget for it) I still eat crap (but not like I used to). I've lost a fair bit but still have a ways to go. I can see where you're coming froM. Add me if you'd like:flowerforyou:

definitely not. with a stomach like that you stopped being real 10 pounds ago ;) great job. you can give me pointers, tips, and advice anytime. we can be FAKE together.
  • It's hard to find real friends like that. I had two babies in 2 years and my youngest was born in April 2011. I am just now getting to exercising was too busy to do it finishing college with two babies. I gained 30lbs with both babies and now have to lose 60lbs. I am up to 260lbs and have never been this weight in my life. Getting back down to 200lbs at a size 16 would make me happy as can be. I have no friends on here.
  • I'm real with ~90 pounds to lose! I'd love some more friends!
