130 pound WEINER!!

I think I spelled weiner wrong:blushing:
Oh my, I did not realize the difference REAL weight resistance can have on a person til I did some simple bodyweight exercises yesterday:sad: Hep me, somebody hep me, I've exercised and I can't get up:laugh:
Wow, I am sore from a few pushups, situps, lunges and squats but I am so motivated and encouraged to know what a difference weight training can make. It's been a long time since I did any and just forgot how it feels when you first start out
Anyway, I feel pretty foolish in thinking I was getting stronger just by walking (mostly I walked, a little bicycling and a little kayaking til my kayak sprung a leak). I've read more on muscle (more specifically, the difference between aerobic and anaerobic exercise) and how it all works. This was an excellent read this a.m. and was sent to our group forum by tonyabtrfly, so thank you much Tonya!!

I love walking so much...I could walk 5-7 miles a day 7 days/wk. BUT...I've thrown light weight-training into the mix 3 days/wk. Let me tell you, when I skip those days, I really feel a difference! Overall, I feel the walking keeps me slim but the lifting keeps me trim and STRONG!0

The proof is always in the pudding so I never claim to know what is best for another person, or I hope I don't;) I had some "over-use" issues from doing the same walking 5-6 days a week and now I am glad to hear I may do better with weight training:) But I will always want to go on walks but they won't be for anything but pleasure and taking photos like I love to do. I love hiking even more but it's hard to go too far alone without worrying some boogy man might get me, or a bear!!:frown:

Interesting article Denise. Also I feel a bit wimpy when I hear the weights people are lifting so it's good to know that we can fatigue the muscles by repetition as well. Thanks for posting.0

Oh yeah!! I was so glad to find the studies on bodyweight, as well as articles and the book title that was given to me. I had no desire to join the gym or, buy equipment. The great part too is the time recommendations are sooooooo short, 20 minutes a day doing several bodyweight only exercises! Glad to see your reply!

Wiener in my day meant "wimpie" so straighten up and start posting on my subject before they shut the whole thread down:grumble:0
