Wondering What I'm Doing Wrong

A couple months ago, I completely changed the way I eat, for the better. Cut out a lot of bad foods, don't eat fast food anymore, cut out soda, upped my water intake, have been eating a LOT more veggies, fruits, healthy foods, etc. As of the last month, I've really kicked it into gear, going on about an hour walk each night either before or after dinner, I watch what I eat, and everyday this month, minus one, I've been under my calorie limit. You'd think that the weight would start to fall off. I don't expect it to drop off at rapid speed, but at least SOME sort of difference should be seen. My weight has stayed the same. I just don't get what I'm doing wrong, or if it could be something else going on, like a thyroid problem... Any advice / tips would be helpful. (And feel free to add me as a friend, I could use any and all encouragement, and I promise I'll give it right back.)

    Refigure your calorie deficit. I know when I used to count calories..it never worked. I was eating 1500 a day... I only lost four pounds in four months. This time..I'm at 1200 and losing.

    also..make sure you are tracking everything and being honest. so easy to fudge without realizing it.

    its also possible your slowing your metabolism by eating too little. are you eating within your BMR and TDEE? if you arent then theres a good possibility thats whats going on. its what happened to me

  • It might also be that your not eating accordingly to your metabolism type.

    The targets for Carbs, Proteins and Fat given by the system are great, but does not work for everybody. Depending on how your metabolism functions, you might need to adjust them.

    For exemple, I realized that my metabolism requires more proteins. I had spent weeks eating almost only veggies and salad and sticking between 10 to 15% of protein. I was always under my calorie goal, but I was gaining weight.

    When I shifted to 20-25% of protein and reduced the carbs, I felt better, had more energy, was never hungry and started losing...

    You've received some great suggestions. Here are a few other things to consider (you may already be doing them; I'm just throwing them out there!)

    How are you measuring your portions? I find a food scale to be a huge help in accurately measuring and recording portions so that the calories are correct. Especially if you are eating several times a day, being as little as 50 calories off in your portion guesstimates starts to really add up. Let's say, for example, you eat 5 times a day (5 small meals or 3 meals and two snacks) and you're always off by only 50 calories. When you add it up, that's 250 calories a day. You may be wiping out your entire planned calorie deficit by guesstimating.

    Are you recording beverage calories? Many people forget to record liquid calories.

    Are you recording condiments? Things like butter, ketchup, mayonaisse, salad dressings, etc.?

    Yes, I've been recording drinks, condiments, etc. I had forgot about that in the very beginning, but started that after about a week. I pretty much just stick to water to be honest.

    That might be a problem - I don't know my metabolism type to be honest. I'm certain that it's fairly slow, and I don't even know where to begin to boost it or help it along.
