Hi. I'm new to MFP and in a way, I'm finding it difficult. I am a recovering anorexic/bulimic and I feel like a lot of people are speaking ED language on here. I wondered if there might be a group or something, for people with ED issues, who might have different needs and/or need a different kind of support? Any help would be great...

I don't see people speaking ED language here, unless someone starts a topic looking for fellow binge eaters or others with EDs for support. I do see people who are overweight, however, or who are interested in their health, trying to change their lifestyles and get healthy and fit. Sure, some here do go to extremes and eat too little, or overexercise, but the majority I see are focussed on learning to live a better life.

There are some groups here for eating disorders, just click groups and search for things like 'anorexia' and 'eating disorder'.
Some here are not wanting to recover, but rather are using the site to further their ED,
Others are here trying very hard to get better, including myself (history of anorexia, now struggling with bulimia).

I would say unless you are very strong minded and ready to recover, this site could prove detrimental to you and make your condition worse, especially if you are adding people who are on very low calorie diets.
  • I guess I'm looking too closely at the extreme calorie counters... I don't know. Maybe you're right and this site isn't right for me. Seeing all this advice on how to restrict calories is definitely freaking me out.
