Bonus Miles

Today I ran 3.5 bonus miles. What are bonus miles you may be asking? Bonus miles are miles that you run on days when you were not planning on running, but wind up getting out there due to some luck.
I arrived home from work early by about 30 minutes today. The house was empty and quiet which is unusual for that time of the day. I called my wife and she said “They were out and were just getting ready to leave the playground.” She told me I had some time to go running before they would arrive home.
I was not expecting this. I quickly changed my clothes and ate a piece of my banana bread and headed out. I just did a quick up and back route and made it back in time to help get the kids ready for bed.
Have you ever had a day when you were not expecting to exercise, but somehow you made it out there?

Awesome! I try to have my clothes on hand to grab the opportunity. I am one of those mothers that instead of sitting in the car waiting for the kids during their school activities I will rather run around the track, even if it is just for 20 minutes. It keeps me sane (and friendly). My kids know where to find me. I used to get a lot of comments but the other day I saw two mothers walking the track. Good for them!0

Good for you!! My mom used to do that when we were younger. 20 minutes is 20 minutes. There is no hard and fast rule that it has to be done at a certain time.
