I'm fairly new and I've heard the term "clean eating" tossed around the MFP forums but I don't know what it means. Please enlighten me

No processed foods, and usually low on oils, salt and refined sugars.
I'm veggie so clean foods for me would be things like fresh fruit and veg, wholegrains (brown rice, rolled oats, quinoa), beans and lentils and nuts and seeds.
E.g.
A fresh apple is clean, apple juice with added sugars or sweeteners is not.
A porridge made with rolled oats, water and fruit is clean, Oatso Simple and other quick/processed porridge products are not.0 -

It's eating as close to nature as possible. Fresh produce, lean meats, beans, whole grains etc. If you pick something up in the grocery store and has more than 5 ingredients, or ingredients you can't pronounce, put it back. It means cutting out sugar (except natural sugar in fruits and veggies)
Tosca Reno has written a bunch of boooks on it and so far I have bought and read 3 of them and I would totally reccomend you do the same if you are interested in clean eating.0 -

"If God made it. Eat it."
"If man made it. Read the label."
Plus, you refuse to use the 5 second rule for food dropped on the floor.0 -
<<<< My Diary. Only because I feel like crap otherwise, not because of any other reason.0

What is "clean eating"?
There are two appropriate answers.
1) Wash your food.
2) A myth.

To me, it's eating as high a percentage of whole, unprocessed foods as I can afford. Whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, raw or minimally processed (read: cooked) nuts and seed, whole cuts of fresh meat (which, for me, is just fish), and the like. It's also about avoiding eating as many processed foods as possible.0

I have a friend that clean eats. If she can't pronounce what's in the ingredient list, and if she can't tell you what it is, she won't eat it.0
