My husband's department is having a potluck picnic tonight.. Not only am I not excited about the social aspect.. I hate being forced to get together and make nice with people I do not like.. But then you add social eating to the fray. All that garbage. I am fully preparing myself for all the flack I will get for eating healthy..

Aww, look at you eating healthy.. a little won't kill you. (said in fake ,smarmy tone)
Isn't our food good enough for you?
Why don't you eat wheat again?, you aren't really allergic.
MMMM.. this is soooo good, licking chips seductively..
Now , WHAT is it you are doing? What diet is that?
Oh maybe I should try that diet ..

What other annoying replies an I missing? What is your polite humble way of avoiding the social jealousy of being healthy?

I need your support guys..

Why does it even become an issue? I've been to tons of potlucks where the only thing I ate was the thing I brought myself. No one generally made any comment about it. In general, I find that it's no big deal if you don't make it a big deal.

If anyone chooses to make comments, one response works for all, "I'm good, thanks." Leave it at that. Don't engage them for more. Just change the subject to something you actually want to talk about.

bring a few things you and your hubby like ...ask him to support you by eating these foods with you....also when they say these things....just say that is your choice to eat what you want this is what I want....I am making a concious effort to live healthier so I can be here for my family for as long as possible....thank you for noticing and smile:) will drive them crazy lol and soooo much fun :)

Yea.. I will eat just chips. That is what my husband was told to bring. I get what you are saying, guess I was looking for a little empathy.. Happy for you that you are so strong, and your social group minds their own business. :ohwell:
