I typically will use and find every excuse I can to not eat healthy or exercise. I have to say that I finally have found and have chosen to go on the right path and I am feeling great! I have even FINALLY reached MY first personal goal! YEAH ME!!

Any ways....so last night I was sitting on the couch with my husband and we were talking about eating healthy and going to the gym, which he does neither even though I try to help him eat better and ask him to go to the gym with me. He tells me that he told a friend that the reason that he doesn't go to the gym with me is because I like to do cardio and he likes to lift weights. I sat there and just stared at him....like he can't go and lift weights while I do cardio.

He said that he wants to look into the gym that is near the house that has a pool, my gym does not have a pool. Wondering if he signs up for this gym with a pool should I cancel my gym membership and join with him? Or should we do separate gyms?

    Let him have his own space at the gym.

    You have your own that you know inside and out and are used to and can use as a Haven.

    He is looking a completely different gym with different things in it and at a different location for a reason.

    Otherwise, he'd have just signed up for your gym.

    It's very possibly that he just wants to go by himself and have some breathing room to feel like a superhero and de-stress. This is the reason I work out alone and don't have a gym partner...

    Or he is looking for a distraction to get you to stop nagging him about trying to live a lifestyle you've chosen for yourself.

    Sometimes when we get on these health kicks or plans we tend to want to drag everyone around us in because it's so fabulous and amazing and we feel great. Sometimes they're just not ready, they need to do it for themselves.

    You stated you typically find every excuse you can to not eat healthy or exercise. You finally started making better choices. That's great, and worthy of celebrating. I hope you continue to make healthy choices.

    How long did it take you to get to that point? How long did you focus on wanting to change your choice-making? I assume you worked pretty hard to change your thinking about health and exercise. What are the odds that your husband is going to have the same attitude as you at that same time?

    Let him be. Demonstrate the results of healthy eating and exercise. Telling him can be nagging. Showing him can be hot.
