depression, and loss of appetite?

I had depression from the ages of 11 until 19, and have been great for the past year but now I am back in the black hole.

I have absolutely no appetite... should I try to eat anyway?

You should go out, everyday, even when you don't feel like it, for yourself. I too have suffered from untreated deep depression for many years, but always managed to pick myself up and fight it, and to be honest going out is the best cure, appreciate little things, get a break from people if you've been socializing a lot lately, if you didn't then maybe it's time to talk to any of your friends/family? About food ... go shopping see delicious fruit or go and eat out at a restaurant (healthy choice please).

I would say if you can eat something than do so, but don't get too stressed if you don't.
Also find someone to talk to, Dr, friend, family, good samaritan.
Dn't beat yourself up about what you don't do. Celebrate the things that you do manage.
If you manage to get out of bed thats great. If you make yourself a cup of tea thats fantastic.

Hope that you get the help you need soon and start to recover.:flowerforyou:

I lose my appetite sometimes due to depression/anxiety/ptsd. Not eating when this happened made me get fat, because after days/weeks of that I'd feel better then feel really hungry and overeat. Tackling this undereating has been the main thing that's helped me to lose all the excess fat, which was stored around my waist (having too many stress hormones in my system means that fat gets stored around my waist more than anywhere else). It's hard to eat when feeling so crap, but anything that's healthy and calorie dense that you enjoy eating, eat that, log it, and try to get as close to your MFP calorie goal as you can.

Also I find that undereating and/or not eating enough healthy carbs makes depression and anxiety worse.
