Stress releases cortisol which can inhibit weight loss.

It can. Plus it's not good for your blood pressure and can even make you sick. Maybe try using exercise to work through the stress?

Stress can be a big problem for weight loss. Not only does it push certain people (like me) to eat more than usual (going through this right now, since I'm moving for college... tomorrow), but even when you do eat right, it chemically affects your weight loss. However, it does not stop you from losing weight. Like someone mentioned above, exercise is really good to get stress out of your system. Personally, whenever I work out, I feel like I'm on top of the world, whereas I'll feel really crappy on days I skipped my workout...

I find with stress it either makes you lose weight, or like me gain or keep your weight the same. I've been under major stresses for the last year and luckily I haven't gained, but despite trying hard, I've not lost weight either. Make some time for yourself, get your life/stress under control as best you can and focus on getting healthier. I found light exercise really helped me focus.

This happens to me, many people say " stress should make you lose weight, not gain". But I think it is based on a persons genetics. I started taking kelp supplements when I am stressed and I think it has helped, I don't get that bloated feeling.

I don't know about you but in my case, I lose my appetite when stressed or feeling sad so the end result is weight loss.
