How many calories does yoga burn?

I just got done with an hour long yoga class that kicked my butt! I definitely need to work on my shoulder strength and flexibility!!! Anyway, when I typed it into the excercise search on here it says yoga only burns 171 calories for me in an hour. I just find this so hard to believe. I know it's not super intense cardio, but I still break out into sweat and think it's quite the workout. The class I do is called "fitness yoga" and the instructor calls it "vinyasa yoga" (sorry if I'm spelling that incorrectly). Anyone know if it's more than 171 calories/hour?

Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga are going to burn significantly more calories than a gentle Hatha flow, for example. I also find the MFP estimate for yoga a little unrealistic. I'm not sure how many extra calories you're burning but I like to look at this way; If I'm getting an extra burn and it's not recorded it just means I'll reach my goals more quickly. Cheers!

I always underestimate. Even when I am all out sweating for the whole thing I will put "medium" exertion. Most calorie estimaters tend to estimate REALLY high in my opinion. I would rather be off in a direction that will help me loose weight. Same thing when I measure I measure just under, not a rounded cup. I take the smaller size of 8 oz to be my 4 oz chicken. I don't want to "cheat" myself out of a healthy body.
