Permanent Laser Hair Removal (down there)

Might be TMI for some, but almost all my friends on MFP aren't shy, so I will go ahead and post away.

I've been seriously considering permanent laser hair removal for my lady region. The more I think about it, the more I want to get started yesterday.... ;)

I am calling a clinic today to schedule a consultation, where I will find out how many sessions I might need and how much money each session will cost (it ranges anywhere from $1000-$2500 so I've heard) and usually takes 6-8 sessions, which can take around 6 months. I've done plenty of research, but I want to know if anyone on here has done this, either to their lady region or any other area, and what your results were like.

Apparently, it's f*ckin' amazing.... and that sounds good to me. ;)

I go in every 8 weeks for a session and I got a really good groupon deal (seriously it was like $300 for all the sessions). It hardly hurt me at all. I've only done one session so far have another in two weeks. I noticed a huge difference for like a month after the first session but now everything seems to be back to normal soooooooo... time will tell!

Good to know! I'm so excited! And there is a groupon deal right now. It's like $200 for 6 sessions, but they limit to where you can get it and of course, they don't let you use it for your lady region! BOO!

that would rock!!!! That would be even better than waxing, I would love to even do that, except that fact that someone would be "down there" doing that. I would rather be able to inflict the pain on myself? i tried the epilator, that was not fun, but worth it when kept up with it because it was longer results than shaving for swimming.

Not sure if you have been lasered in other areas before, this lady area tends to sting a bit more as the hair is coarser. I found that the hair is more sparse, thinner and grows slower than it used too.
I have dark hair fair skin, Im apparently a great candidate for laser.

I was told I am a good candidate as well. Darker hair and light skin. I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I have waxed my own brazilian, legs, and arms and I'm fine with it. I'm not so much worried about that.
I just want to know that If I'm paying all this money, it will be worth it!

I was lucky it was like 12 sessions for $300, full brazilian was included and both armpits count as one session, so I've been doin those things :D

I am currently doing this. I've had 2 sessions so far. I see a HUGE difference. However, my friend who has already had it done says that it doesn't get rid of EVERYTHING, just most.
I also got a groupon for a great place.
I've done laser before on my underarms and it was painless at that place.
Through the groupon I'm doing underarms and brazilian. This time it hurts a fair bit. It feels like someone is snapping the area with a rubber band, hard. That said, I think it's no pain no gain. I'm getting way better results at the place with a better laser.
Finally, just something to keep in mind, the second you get pregnant the hair can come back. Once your hormones are out of wak the hair can begin growing again.

Thank you all so far for the advice.... a little insight.

    1. Not scared of the pain what-so-ever. My lady parts are tattooed, so if I can do that... then I think I am okay...
    2. I've done lots of research, so I know exactly what it is that they do.
    3. I'm just mostly concerned with spending so much money if it doesn't work that well.

With that being said, from everyone that I've talked to that's gone through with all the treatments, they have amazing results. So I went ahead and called the treatment center. consultation is free (freakin' awesome!) and the sessions are between $150-$350 depending on several factors. She said they are 4-6 weeks apart and it takes at least 3 sessions (most people said they did 6 sessions).
I have my appointment on the 28th!!!!!

For the love of everything holy DO NOT attempt to wax it yourself! Yes I have a story. No I would not like to share! Let me just say that someone who does that for a living knows how fast and in which direction to properly rip the strip.

Honestly, save yourself some serious grief and just go get it done professionally! :-)

I had a tattoo that was across my throat removed, the tattoo hurt quite a bit, but is was nothing compared to the laser taking it off.

Yes, I am getting in done professionally, thanks. lol.

As far as waxing yourself goes. If you get a decent wax kit and actually read the instructions, it's not that bad. I've done it before, but was never 100% happy with the results.

Again, I am aware of the pain.... Yes, it's a different type of pain. Yes, it hurts worse. My roommate is currently going through tattoo removal, and it's completely different than what I am doing. Tattoo removals burns your skin, leaving scars, and it blisters up. THIS, is nothing like that. Red, inflamed yes. Burned, blistering? No.

My friend did a full brazilian by laser... I just hope she doesn't get to 80 years old and wish she had at least a landing strip left. But to each their own! :drinker:

I would love it too, currently epilate, and that works pretty well once you get used to it
