Insanity Advice!

I'm finishing up with 30DS and want to start Insanity but am weary of the diet given. I am vegetarian and need variety in my diet so the prospect of Insanity looks a bit scary! Is it necessary to follow the diet plan exactly? Would the effects still worked if I just stuck to the calorie limit per meal but made my own soups and meals?
Not sure if this is should be under Fitness and Exercise but hey-ho. Any advice would be wonderful!

I didn't follow the meal plan at all when I did Insanity and still got results. I think you'd be fine making your own meals up.0

The idea is just to get the protein/carb ratio I think. So if you already eat well you can just ignore their meal plan.0
