Hi,

I am new to the site and have started my diet by trying to follow the low carb atkins theory in general. Looking to add friends.

Hey! I'm pretty much new, too and doing the same thing. I find it hard to stick to it for very long. Think it may be because no one else in the house would dream of it!

I can't cut carbs out completely or too low because I am diabetic and My sugars would DROP. But I am trying to stay under 150 a day and so far I have. Add me if you want, I'd love to see how you're doing on it. Plus I like peeking at low carbber's food diaries for food ideas :)

My doctor put me on low carb in July to help deal with my Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I like it. He has me at under 50 grams a day. I generally land somewhere between 20 and 30. I feel pretty good and I find in easy to follow. I'm satisfied and don't feel deprived at all. That said, the high fat freaks me out a bit. But I've lost 11 of the 25 pounds I gained from the Hashimoto's, so it must work. I'd rather eat nuts than bread any day. I would like more fruit and veggies though. When I get down where I want to be, I'll go up to 100 grams a day and get some more in then. Feel free to add me.

I am! I try to make sure my carbs come from vegetables and limited fruits. My ideal day is about 50 carbs. Once I hit my goal weight, I'll probably maintain around 100-150, whatever works at that time. Feel free to add me.

I'm doing the recommendations in "The Wheat Belly". That basically means cutting out all sugar and wheat and limiting other types of carb sources, but they are allowed. So 90% of my meals consist of meat, cheese, and lots of veggies. Maybe once a week or so I'll have some source of rice/potato/fruit/whole grain (not whole wheat) product. I've even weened off of artificial sweeteners which I find makes the natural sugars in fruits and other foods pop! My cravings and hunger are under control! I've just added exercise in to my life in the last 2 weeks or so and that is helping a lot.

I'm new here too and am trying to stick to low carb, lots of veggies and fruits, but little to no sugar, wheat, rice etc...

Feel free to add me too, you'll be my very first friend, LOL.
  • I just join, sure could use some help with losing 20 pounds, I am having a hard time not to get down when the pounds won't move no matter how hard I cut back and exercise.

You should look into the Dukan Diet...it seems more doable long term than Atkins...just started on Sunday and I lost 5 pounds already...2nd phase = veggies. Can't wait. :) Add me - we can share ideas. I have been on the look out for great protein recipes....I struggle with getting bored of grilled chicken and egg whites.

And even if you don't want to, my diary is public so have a look if you want! I've been aiming for less than 30 grams of carbs a day.
