headed off diabetes med

I just saw my GP Doc today and my A1c is down to 4.3!!!
The highest I ever was was 5.1 so I was still considered borderline diabetic. Over the last 4 years or so I've lost about 115 lbs, 35 lbs in the last 6 months and my blood sugars have been heading down. My blood sugars seem to respond to weight (as opposed to genetics) so the Doc said that if I continue to lose weight she can see me going off of the med completely. For now, we're cutting the dosage in half and will do a recheck in 3 months to make sure everything is still stabilized.
On my way to a healthier lifestyle!

Congratulations! Focus on a high fiber diet. You can even use Metamucil - 2 tablespoons into 16 ounces of water every evening or morning - just get the sugarfree kind. Mix with a fork. Fiber will cleanse your stomach. Also, start building muscle by doing standing squats, good-mornings, knee-lifts (with alternating arm lifts as if you are reaching to the sky), etc. Start by doing 10 per morning of each and then 10 per evening. Add 5 per week. Muscle will help burn more sugar, thus getting that out of your system. Blessings!0

You are amazing! What a wonderful report. I'm hoping to get the same result one day. I began taking meds for diabetes about 5 years ago....definitely weight related. I'm only on on med now and hope to get off of it when I lose this weight. Again congrats!0

That is awesome, my A1C got as high as 6 which is terrible, I was taking Actos. Through a good eating regimen and exercise I have now been off Actos, or any diabetes medication for 6 months. My A1C at my last visit was 4.5. I know just how you feel!!! Keep it up and let us know when you get off the meds.0
