Ok. I'm 5'4, and at one time weighed 230 lbs. The stretch marks and loose skin are horrifying. I initially lost to 108lbs because of chemo and am currently 145. The reason for the marks and loose skin was due to high doses of prednisone and solumedrol. I gained weight so quickly, that the stretch marks bled. Does anyone have issues with this too? Loose skin? I could deal with the marks, but the skin makes it impossible for certain clothes to fit....any ideas on how to deal with it?

How is your health now? I hope you are well. I can't imagine the fight you must have gone through. How long ago was your weight loss? If it was fairly recent you may just have to give your skin time to recover. I have been doing some reading on dry brushing. I have not tried it but, it does sound interesting. You may try googling it.0 -
My health is good now. I was in high school when this happened, so it has been quite some time. HIndsight being 20/20, I would have done so many things differently. If I ever get $ to do it, and my doctors allow it, I'm having surgery to get it taken care of. It's not enough loose skin to qualify as a medical necessity though..just enough to make my clothes fit improperly.0

I have read and seen on some of the health shows about massage for the skin (not sure if it works) but what they talked about and showed looked good ....and I can see it working if done consistently for a while at least to some extent....you can google it too but they took oils with vit c, aloe and collagen and massaged it in....daily....suppose you could it twice a day....but it sloughed off dead skin, woke up blood circulation and skin renewing properties....sounds like it may take a lil while but it would be worth it and who doesnt like a massage?0

Are you exercising? I believe exercising will help you to tone up the loose skin, and even the stretch marks. Seems to be working for me, I have horrible stretch marks on my thigh, and now that I started exercising, running, the stretch marks seems to disappear.0

I'm having major skin issues at this point. It had been something I have just had to deal with. For the mos part right now it's been my arms and mid section. To be honest I have learned to deal with it. Like it was when I was 310 lbs I couldn't wear certain clothes and now it's the same but slightly different. I have come to the conclusion I would rather have saggy arms vs. being where I was before. With the said , lifting will help a lot for now. I am also in your same financial boat so I hear you girl .0

sometimes surgery is the only answer for the loose skin...I have some I'm not happy about too...its been 13 years since my major weight loss and its not returned to normal even with significant weight training0

Exercise wont actually tone loose skin, but it will build muscle under it and sort of fill it out some. I am feeling your pain, years of being obese and losing weight has me looking somewhat like a melting candle! Do your best to keep yourself well hydrated and moisturizing daily may help. A lot times, your age and plain old genetics determines how well your skin recovers. For now I am just enjoying the fact that I feel so much better. Spanx is becoming my friend as well! Once I am at goal for awhile I will wait and see how much skin recovery I have before seeking out a plastic surgeon.0
