My name is Michelle and I am a 27 year old teacher who has yo-yo dieted over the years and never been happy with myself. I dieted at the start of the year, restricting calories to 1200 and exercising and got to my lowest weight 8st 13lbs but I still wasn't happy. I went on a holiday to Italy in April and have found myself in a binge eating cycle ever since and becoming more and more depressed and it needs to . Its affecting my life in a big way to the point that I don't want to see people and its's affecting my relationship with my boyfriend who I also moved in with after our holiday. I have started seeing a pyschotherapist for the binge eating to deal with other issues that are there.

Exercise is not a problem for we, I do weights, walk and take spinning classes but they are all a waste of time at the moment because of my diet. My diet is what I need to get a handle on if I want to make changes and be happy. I have tried calorie counting and weight watchers but they still allow me to eat junk food if I stay within my budget. I have bought Tosca Reno's Clean Eating Recharged book and I am starting today! I think that this is the way forward for me to really change my body and stop the binge eating cycle.

I am starting a new job in a weeks time so I'm going to ease up on the exercise while I focus on this and my diet.

If anyone else is using myfitnesspal while eating clean I would love to hear about your success and also if anyone is interested in a diet buddy I would also be interested!

I'm not exactly sure of my weight now as I'm too afraid to go near the scales but I am 5ft 5" and the last time I weighed myself was 144 pounds. I know that I am not overweight but I am very unhappy and uncomfortable at this weight and would like to get down to 119pounds.

    Hi Michelle,

It's smart that you're seeing a therapist. That will help you manage your stress level while you make healthy food changes. I hope your first day eating clean goes well! Good job taking that first step!

    Best of luck,
    Anna

Thanks Anna. It's amazing how you can go from being so in control with diet and exercise to feeling completely out of control. Definitely time for a change and time to start NOW! I know I'm the creator of my own happiness! Thanks for the support!
  • Hi I think we can really motivate each other - I need you to get me doing more excersize because I dont do any - also I make my lunch and dinner from scratch everyday and I never eat pre-made or processed food really so hopefully I can help you with your diet. Xxx

Absolutely! I'm making a fresh start, starting today but took a day off from exercise! Have two workouts planned for tomorrow though, walking my dog for an hour and a spin class! I am aiming to work out twice a day 6 days a week as much as possible! Although once I get my diet in check and stop my binge days I'll be more than happy! I only started exercising properly in January last year and it definitely becomes addictive! I walk my dog and take spinning classes. I had been going to kettlebell classes up until a few weeks ago and am going to go back Monday week. I also started lifting free weights to replace the kettlebells but I think I will take a break from this for a few weeks as my main aim now is to lose the fat first and get diet under control. I can definitely help motivate you and would love and appreciate some from you as regards my diet!! x x
  • Hi Michelle,

I have just read you post and really understand where you are coming from. I have struggles with binge eating pretty much all my life on and off! For the last year I have been seeing a personal trainer and following weight watchers. Like you, I've lost weight but now i'm at a plateau and if I'm not careful will see it increasing! I'm in the mind set you are and thinking about trying to gradually introduce clean eating so I'm not wasting my points on chocolate cakes etc.

So are how are you finding it so far? Has the book been helpful that you orgered?

    Thanks Lucy
