How often do you go to the gym?

Obviously everyone is different and they find out what works for them, but I'm just curious about how many days people train, how long for, what they do (e.g. weights, cardio) etc..

I don't go to the gym right now. I'm going Insanity so I work out 6 days a week, usually between 35-65 minutes, depending on which workout is on the schedule for the day.
  • I try to get to the gym 3 times a week, but I also try to get a run or tennis or something lese in another 3 times a week :)

I was going five days per week at 4:45am, however, I was forced to take two months off due to three fractures in my right heel.... so now, Im doing three days and actively working towards going back to five per day....

Love the adrenalin rush of the weight machines!!!!!!!!
  • Thanks for all of your replies!
I've just joined a gym and I think 3-4 times a week for an hour or so would be best for me, thinking of going every other day and allowing myself time to 'rest'. It helps to know what you guys do so I've got an idea of what I should aim for!
Although I'm going to start off working out twice a week at first and build the amount of days up so I don't overdo it.

I've never stepped foot in a gym. Though I would love to it's just not an option for me. I do cardio 3 times a week plus a 15 minute circuit. I also weight lift 3 days a week plus a 15 minute circuit. It's about an hour every day intense!

I go six days a week....... strength training on all 6, and cardio on 4 or 5. Ends up being between 40 minutes to 1 1/2 hours each day.

I just started back up at a gym the week before last.

I've been going every day for about an hour. I've been doing a mix of classes (cardio based) and weight training.

My future plan has me doing weight training 3 days/week and a cardio class 5 days/week.

I try to do cardio (spinning) 5 days a week for 1 hour. But I always do it twice on Monday. And I do weight training 2X a week for an hour.
  • Thanks guys! It's really helpful to hear what works for other people.
I've been two days in a row and am having a rest day tomorrow, returning on Thursday.
So far I'm really enjoying it and can see myself sticking to regular workouts and continuing to be motivated!

Used to go to the gym until I got a pulled groin muscle and had to go for physio, now I do most things at home with caution as I know what my body can handle. I have arthritis bad in my joints so exercise is a day by day thing.
