A new beginning- losing baby weight and more!

My name is Heather. I am 26, 5'2", and 180lbs. I started MFP about 5 days ago and I have already lost 3lbs! This is going to be an exciting ride!

I am happily married to my best friend. We got married 2 1/2 years ago after dating for 5 years. I weighed around 150lbs on our wedding day, and that is my goal now! I got pregnant last year, weighing 173lbs. On the day our son was born, March 14, I was up to205. I quickly lost all of the baby weight. By my 6 week appt I was back down to 173. I was so excited. But, being a mostly SAHM and having to grab food when I could and whatever was conveniant equalled me gaining about 10lbs over the past few months.

We took family photos last Tuesday and I nearly cried when I saw what I looked like now. That wasn't me. I didn't look that huge, did I? That was my kick in the butt to get started on losing weight. I discovered MFP and couldn't be more thrilled. I can actually see the results showing up on the scale already!! When I have tried to diet by myself with no guidance, I went nowhere. But now, I have something really easy to use showing me what I am doing right and wrong!

I want to do this for my husband, my little boy, and most of all me. I am not happy the way I am. I want to be happy again. And so far, it has been so so so easy. Portion control and watching what exactly I am eating. Plus, I cam easily track the calories I have eaten, so I can plan supper accordingly. It is a little more difficult than grabbing the nearest bag of chips, but with my husband's help and support, I think I will do amazing!

I think we have a lot in common :)

I'm Emma, I'm 26, 5'3" and I have also lost 3 lbs so far lol.

I have a little boy who is 3 months old now and am currently on maternity leave until January, so pretty much SAHM.

good luck you can do it!
  • Hi, Heather! You will be amazed at how great this app works, so just stick with it! And congratulations on your new baby! I know how hard it is to work out when you have a baby around, but if you can squeeze that in at least 3 or 4 days a week, it's SO going to help.

You can do this! Don't ever let yourself be discouraged. You're on a journey, so count every day as one step less you have to go! :)

Congratulations on your baby and your weight loss! I too have a newish baby, she will be 8 months on Sept 10th. With my 3 yr old I dropped baby weight and more in about 12 weeks (197 to 140). This time around its not happening quite as fast... I dropped the baby weight but not the more hahaha.. Maybe its because im less active as a SAHM than I was as a working mom. Either way, Im here now!!!
Well anyways.. I wish you the best of luck!!!

Thanks! Wow, that is a big weight loss the first time. I had to stop breast feeding at 2 weeks due to extremely low supply, so there is nothing stopping me from accomplishing this! I just needed to get off my butt and do it!
