Can I do this?

I guess I'm on "day one" and I'm so scared this will be another failure. I have been on medication to treat my anxiety disorder for two years - I have gained 35 lbs., but I have been told this is not all of the medication's fault...I am partly to blame. I was once thin and active, but I am now 20 lbs overweight and not as active as I should be. Do I run? Yes, but not far and I quit alot of the time and end up walking. Do I take strength training classes? Yes. Do I give it my all? Probably not? Do I reach for another piece of cake when I know I shouldn't have it? Yes. Guilty as charged. I'm hopeful this will help, but my negative side said it won't.
Now that I got that off my chest, I'm excited to be part of this community! I'd like to lose 10 lbs by my 10-year wedding anniverary. My husband and I are going to Chicago for a long weekend and I want to earn a shopping trip on Michigan Ave. (ok, I want to splurge and by an unnecessary pair of designer jeans). Can I do this? I hope so.

Hi. Yes, you can do this. You will do it one step at a time, one day at a time so as not to get overwhelmed. If you've been treated for anxiety in the past, hopefully you've used some of the Cognitive Behavioral Tools. Not only does it help keep you more aware of what you're thinking, but also of what you're doing so that you have an opportunity to make changes throughout the day. I've been on this site for 1 month and have definitely seen results. I'm struggling with some stuff, but I just keep coming back and logging throughout the day. I've enlisted my husband and friends to cheer me on, telling them exactly what I need to hear and they have been awesome about providing the support. Recognize what you do right and get excited about it, it will help motivate you to keep going. Like an errant child, ignore the negative crap and focus on what's working. You can do it!!!!!:happy:0

Thanks so much! I hope I can...I think the medications have changed my metabolism which stinks - but that means I just have to work harder. I need to get in the mindset to do that.0
