anything that is natural. Things that do not have added sugars and chemicals. grains, fruits, veggies, proteins. Non packaged things. It is great for weight loss :)

yep, this is what most people mean when they talk about eating clean.

I disagree with this, at least at face value.

If you eat too much, I don't care what it is or how "clean" it is... you're still going to gain weight. Similarly, you can most certainly have success losing weight eating McDonalds every day, as long as you're still in a healthy caloric deficit.

Obviously there may be other heath issues resulting from an all-McDonalds diet, but speaking purely about the number on the scale, it can certainly be done.

The definition of "Eating Clean" really depends on who you ask!

But the general principle is that you're trying to eat as little processed food as possible. Things should be fresh and actually occur in nature rather than having been concocted in a laboratory.

The benefits are that you should end up with more complete nutrition, far less sodium, no transfats, and ingesting fewer additives and preservatives. You also usually feel full longer as you'll get a lot more protein and fiber.

    Drawbacks are convenience and expense.
