Can't get pregnant unless I lose weight!

My OBGYN recommended this site to me so here I'am! I'm 27 and have been married for 6 years and we have been trying for a baby since our marriage. I'm not ovulating because of my weight, and I have PCOS. My doctor wants me to lose 10% of my body weight and then they will put me on an ovulation medicine. So far the website has helped a lot and this is just day one, I think its a really nice tool to have.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have PCOS (diagnosed about 3 years ago), but with the help of this site I've been able to lose 24lbs. 8 of that has been since I recommitted to the process at the beginning of this month. You can do it!

I was told at 302 pounds I wouldn't be able to have kids.
    At 235, I got pregnant.

Good luck!!! However, make sure that you are doing this ultimately for YOU - to make a true life change that will last past short term goals :)

I'm sure you'll be blessed with your little one soon!!

I have PCOS, hypothyriodism and Short Luteal Phase Defect. I was not supposed to have children either...but I have 3. Please do lots of research as even with weight loss PCOS can effect fertility...and often has other conditions such as the other two I have that are "hidden" by it. All the best!

@mantis: But I want to feed the zombies lol

I am a male, so I am sure my voice isn't as useful as the ladies... or as pretty... Nor, do I want to catch pregnancy :P

But I will be glad to aid you in this conquest if you wish, with moral support, also it might be a cool idea if the mister could join you. Internet voices only say, physical bodies can aid

I have been toying with the notion of having a baby for the last 16 years lol my Dr told me if I lost 5o or 60 lbs I would have a much better chance of conception, but that was 10 years ago! I never did lose the weight....Now I am 40 and I have 4 grand children, my husband knows I am just not up to anymore, but I know he wants a baby so badly. He helped me raise my two daughters. Now, like I said I am 40 and have finally taken the weight loss issue seriously. I am terrified I will get this weight off, and then get pregnant! lol
weight plays such a huge role on a woman's menses. Good luck and stick to it...It is so true that women who are overweight do have a much more complicated pregnancy. It is also a tougher labor! I know when i had my first daughter, I was thin, then when I had my second daughter 16 months later, I had gained quite a bit of weight and I had a hell of a labor!
Good luck again to you!!! you can do it!!!
  • Funny how doctors tell you u can't get pregnant because of your weight....well when i was at 138lbs i still couldn't get pregnant i just found out back in november i have PCOS just starting in april on mfp and so far this has helped me loose the lbs...i am not on any ovulation meds just on regular birth control pills to regulate my hormones and keep my mood swings undercontrol...but u can do this...just keep at it..it's a struggle and it takes a lot of ur energy but the results will be worth it..
