Jillian Michaels??

When would you consider a "good" time to take on one of Jillian's DVDs? I have three that I haven't touched in months (30 Day Shred and two others I can't remember - orange and purple boxes??), but I'm so ridiculously out of shape I think if I attempt those things now I might not get through them =\

Is there like a "weight/fitness limit" of sorts to take on one of those, or do I buck up now and try it and take it at my own pace...or do I keep up with her? Ughhh the pain of being grossly obese...

30 day shred is tough and you might get dispirited if you take it too seriously. Would recommend you dip in and out and as you get fitter you will be able to do more and more. Know that we have all been there if we have been heavy. I couldn't view your diary to comment more than just generally- you can be bigger and fit enough.

I started with body for life but took it in stages and the workbook had success stories which bolstered me up. The workbook was a little like this site if you use the diaries and read a success story a day. Only now have done JM (down from 222 to 135) and it makes me tired and stiff, but that is just teething pains. Take it slowly add days of walking, stairs, pilates, mari windsor, and some weights. It is the same for all of us but an injury would not be good.

You are right to ask about this, shows you are willing and being sensible. Good for you.

Not sure, but about to go get my first DVD tonight. asked on an earlier post about recommendations and the top 3 I got where the 30 Day Shred, No More Trouble Zones (I think that 's the name of it) and her Yoga DVD. I might get the Yoga DVD since one person mentioned that you don't need weights with that one, just use your own body weight.

I did the 30 day shred sporadically for about 6 weeks a couple years ago. It definitely helped me lose weight (but then i put it back on a year later, not the dvd's fault) Its tough but it offers amended moves that make it easier to complete. I think you should just try it and see what you can do. Jillian Michaels is great at pushing you (even though it is only a dvd) and it definitely gets easier as you do it more frequently. When i first did it, I kept my remote control handy to pause in between moves and really get my form right. So then the next time I did it, I knew exactly what to expect. If you're interested there is a 30 day shred group that is starting on Sept. 1st that I just joined.

I jumped in while very overweight with 30 Day Shred and just did as much as I could. I did it every other day instead of every day. Now I've worked my way up to her No Trouble Zones, which is twice as long as 30 Day Shred and really tough.

On a lot of the moves, she shows you how to modify it for beginners, so I would say you're definitely able to do it right now. Just do what you can and if you get tired, march in place to keep your heart rate up and jump back in when you can. Good luck!

You'll never know if you don't try right? Take it slow and give it a try. You may be surprised.....
