Is the sugar in milk bad for you? I always thought it was bad but then I was reading a health and fitness book today and it said it was natural sugar like with fruit. I drink 1 or 2% milk and it has 12 grams of sugar in a cup. Please answer, thanks.

If you're on a diet you may as well drink skim... or try Soy, Almond, Rice, or Flax Milk.
That being said, you don't really need to worry about naturally occurring sugars, no.0 -

There is a sugar that occurs naturally in milk called "Lactose". Lactose is a 3 or more chain sugar that breaks down to become glucose through fermenting in the small intestine through the bacteria/enzyme called Lactase. Most adults become "lactose intolerant" because the amount of lactase in your intestines will die as you get older; so what ends up happening is bad bacteria or yeast will inhabit your intestines to eat the lactose instead.
The sugar in milk isn't necessarily bad for you if you can tolerate it; after all, since it has 3 or more sugar chains, it acts like a "complex carb" or a "starch" and will make you feel full longer. But if you find yourself bloated, having indigestion, acid reflux, or heart burn after having dairy; you could be lactose intolerant like me.0 -
