NSV - Don't Let ANYONE Tell You That You Can't!

I ran my fastest mile today - 9:50!

Here's the deal though...I weighed 191 at the beginning of my journey about 6 years ago and I joined a gym only to have a trainer tell me that a 40 pound loss goal was a bit unreasonable. Talk about dicouraged.

When I started running 8 months ago my husband was kind but didn't think I'd keep up with it when I could barely jog a half mile. Talk about embarrassed. But this time...I pressed on.

Now it took me 5 more years to take my weight loss seriously but here I am. I now weigh 153.8 Just 4 pounds shy of what the trainer told me I COULDN'T DO! 4 pounds away from what I weighed in high school TEN years ago and running a faster mile than I did when I played field hockey each Fall.

The message I hope to get across - Please no matter where you are on this journey...don't get discouraged, don't let anyone tell you that you can't do this....the only person that can do it is you and you are 100% capable.

This totally made my day!! You kick butt, chickie!!

A couple of months ago I offhandedly said something about running and my stepmother just kind of looked at me and said "You're running now?". So I explained that I was using the Couch 2 5k program and she said "You're not actually going to try to do a 5k, are you???"

I was discouraged until my stepsister (whom I *adore*) piped up and said "<rolling eyes> Mom, it's only 3 miles, there's no reason she can't do it. Don't be so negative!"

Now I'm just more determined than ever to run that 5k, and if I have my say it's going to be by the end of *this* year, not next!! Thanks for the positive message today! :)
