Cycling NSV!

I've biked to Lakefield, a town 16km away from my house, once before. Today my boyfriend, who cycles competitively and rides a rather better bike than mine for doing this, wanted me to ride with him out there and back. We decided to make it a race. He beat me but I was only behind by 6 minutes AND AND AND I shaved NINE MINUTES off my previous time there and back! The full ride is about 33km.

I did, however, end up with this epic sunburn...

    Thanks guys! :D To put it into perspective, my bike is a 30 year old CCM cruiser style in town bike, my boyfriend has a cervelo R3 and we were biking into a headwind both ways. 32.52km round trip :D

    Too bad about the burn, but 9 minutes off of a ride like that is tremendous! Way to go!

    I love the feeling of knowing that I'm riding up a hill that used to force me to walk, and shaving off time from long rides means a lot.

    Very, very proud of you!

    im really picky about the sun. its a cancer risk & UVA also ages your skin. I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw the bbc horizon documentary that showed lorry drivers had more wrinkles on one side of their face because it was nearest the window when they were driving. people who use sunbeds really are asking for trouble.

    I don't tan at all and am usually fairly covered up, typical English girl here. Burns like crazy. We bought some sunblock right after the ride for next time. I should have been wearing some today but totally forgot.
