Flax Milk: The New Best Milk Alternative?

http://www.goodkarmafoods.com/products

So yesterday I stumbled upon Flax milk while picking up some random groceries. I've been through Whole, Skim, Soy, Almond of various brands, organic and not, and I think this may be the healthiest alternative.

Cow's milk tends to have around 100 calories for skim, Soy ~70, Almond ~40. The unsweetened version of Flax Milk has only 25 calories per cup. But the more important factor, is that Flax Milk not only has the same amount of calcium as Cow's Milk, but 1200mg of Omega 3.

Good Karma "Unsweetened" Flax Milk:

Natural, Gluten Free, Vegan, Lactose Free, Soy Free, Cholesterol Free, Trans Fat Free, Saturated Fat Free, Allergen Free, Support Green Farming

1 cup
25 Calories
2.5g Fat
80mg sodium
1 carb
Vitamin A 10%, Calcium 30%, Iron 2%, D 25%, B-12 25%, Phosphorous 15%

The "Original" Flavor jumps up to 50 Calories and adds 7g sugar, while the "Vanilla" version clocks in at 60 Calories with 11g sugar.

I've only tried the Unsweetened Flavor so far, which is on the blander side but certainly does the job. From online reviews I've heard that the Original is the milk alternative that tastes the most like cow's milk, while the Vanilla version tastes like a milkshake.

Getting Omega 3 in your coffee, or mixed in with your protein powder, is certainly something I won't complain about.

Oh yummers. I'm totally gonna try this.

Right now I have the So Delicious Vanilla Coconut Milk Alternative. It's pretty great in a matcha tea.

Eyes peeled for flax milk though; I seem to have difficulty getting enough calcium.

Seems like a reasonable alternative but 0 gm of protein. Which may or may not be an issue.
