First ever 5K

I've just run my first ever full 5K without stopping!!!
Well, it was actually 5.2K and the time won't rival Mo Farrah but I did it. I was talking to my hairdresser in the park with the dogs this morning (he runs) and he said that its all about mental attitude. If you think you can't do it you won't, he said that if you can run 80% of the way you can run the whole thing you just need to believe you can. I tried it and guess what it works!!
I'm so pleased with myself (hope nobody minds me celebrating?) as only 6 or 7 weeks ago I didn't even own a proper pair of trainers and wouldn't/couldn't run. I'm a 40 year old woman that hadn't really exercised for at least 5 years (apart from dog walking) and now I swim a mile twice a week and am doing my first proper 5K race on Sunday - if I can do it anyone can.

Well done you. I also completed the c25k this morning on the treadmill, I started on the 27th July when I could only run for 30 seconds non stop. This morning I did 37 minutes. Going for 4 miles next.0

Well Done! I just started C25k again this morning. I trained up to a 5k last summer, and did it in 40 mins on the day, but haven't run once since and have put on over a stone!0

I'm starting C25K today and hope to run my first 5K on Thanksgiving day. I've never been much of a runner so this should be interesting. I'm hoping that it spurs my weight loss. I've been doing water aerobics since January and I know I'm much stronger than I have ever been so I hope this works in my favor. I need to build up the endurance so I can run the stairs in my house without feeling like I'm going to collapse. Here's to our health!0
