Just having an out loud thought. I always find it amazing that you can lose inches without losing weight. I understand its partially due to muscle mass, I just find it comical that your getting smaller and you total mass and weighing the same.

Can you tell I have hit a slight plateau by posting this? lol

I always thought that was interesting too. My goal is only 9 pds away and instead of being happy that I am so close I am miserable because the weight is not changing but the inches are. I would rather see the number on the scale go down right now as I am at a plateau as well.

Every time I have dieted (like after my second son was born) I hit a plateau a few weeks into it. I know the number on the scale will started heading south again. Its funny that my jeans fitting slightly loose today wasn't enough for me. What a sad addiction the scale can be.

I commented on this same subject earlier! I cannot get past that fourth pound, but my clothes fit better and my face is more shallow. It can be very discouraging though that the number on the scale does not go down. I am hoping a future weigh-in has me dropping mega pounds from the last one!

I both know exactly what you mean, before I joined MFP I had been going to the gym for about 2 months previous, and I was getting most upset that my weight was coming down. However after I'd had a chat with an instructor and had the the whole muscle mass, body fat thing explained to me I didn't feel so bad. And to be honest I'm happier to be a dress size smaller and feel comfortable in my clothes than worrying about what the scales say. You should both be happy with your achievements and not let this set you back. Good luck x

Thanks for posting this! I feel the same way I have been exercising an hour 3-4 times a week and counting calories for at least a month!! No weight change--It is so frustrating I probably need to check my measurements maybe that will keep me going! I feel like I am changing but like you would like to see the scales going DOWN--

Well at least we know we are not alone. I have decided not to step on the scale for another 7 to 10 days. I want to drill into my head that its not the number going down its about making myself overall healthier. Anyone want to join me in that venture?
