Progress through pictures

I have noticed a few people who have kept a kind of photo diary of their weight loss journey and I'm thinking if trying that myself. If you have tried this, did you find it helpful? How often did you take/post photos? I am thinking I would take a photo of myself once a week. Is that too often?
I will warn all my MFP friends in advance; this won't be pretty.

I started with taking a picture when I started and then for every 20 lbs I lose. So far I've only lost 20 lbs but have noticed a difference. Pictures really help you see the difference when the scale doesn't show it. I have friends tell me all the time how much they can see a big difference but when I look in the mirror I do not. I have always hated taking pictures but I think this will be very helpful for me mentally. I won't mind yours if you don't mind mine!:happy:0

Congrats on the 20 pounds! If I wait that long, though, I will only be taking my picture every few months. I think I need more frequent motivation.0

this is actually a good idea. i think i might try that! thanks :]
i just started today, but i set my main picture to an old photo of me from when i was small as inspiration.0 -
I too have been contemplating taking weekly pictures...someone recently told me that it is motivational. I was thinking about trying it but don't know if I will post them. My friend told me by taking weekly pics you'll be able to see yourself shrinking through the pics. (since we see ourselves in the mirror everyday it's hard to see what's toning and tightening up) The motivation for me will be not scaring myself taking bikini photos to show the weight drop! Good luck on your journey and friend me if you'd like. I will try to motivate you as I motivate me!0

I highly recommend it. I started Jillian's 30 days Shred on the 1st of August and took my before picture to use later for comparison. I was disappointed when I weighed in this morning , and it showed a gain of 1.8 lbs. That's impossible! I am eating at a deficit and my measurements are going down. How can that be? Today I took a snapshot of my body from the waist down and then compared it to my before picture. It was an eye-opening experience because I saw the changes in my body that I had not noticed before when I looked in the mirror. All I needed was a picture to prove to myself that everything I have done up to this point has not been in vain.
I would post the picture, but I can't figure out how to attach it to my post.0 -
I took two pics today and uploaded them to my profile. :noway: Ugh. Not pretty. Not pretty, but necessary. It would be smart of me to look at those every time I'm thinking of straying from my plan. Wish me luck!0
