I had just made a purchase of the Polar FT7 heart rate monitor after reading all the posts available on MFP. I am still concerned if this is a worthwhile purchase? Can you all let me know ur comments on how useful this device can be? Thank you for helping me! :)

I was doing some research on line, on the Polar site and here, and decided on the FT7 also, but I haven't purchased it yet - so I'm interested in the replies too!

I purchased the FT7 a few months ago and now use it regularly. Once programmed, it's easy to use. In fact, I just finished a 40 minute and used the heart rate monitor to calculate my calorie burn. Love it!

    Oops: a 40 minute walk :)

I'm on my second HRM (both Polar) and I LOVE mine. I find it to be very motivating when I'm in the gym and it gives you a more accurate reading of calories burned than guessing or going by the gym equipment.

I promise that you won't regret your purchase!

Im about to purchase a hrm. I have a friend that has the polar ft4, I believe it is. That is the one I am thinking about getting. The ft7 has some features that I wouldnt use or really need. my friend loves hers because she can tell what she burns at the gym. I want one for this reason and because I am now at a job where I am on my feet going most of the day and want to know how many calories i burn.
  • I have a polar FT4 and it is wonderful, espcially for days when I am using the elliptical. There is something about that machine that over estimates your calories by 75-150 almost everytime. Using the HRM has gotten me a more accurate reading of how many calories I am actually burning. Plus, I am a treadmill runner, but was able to go outside a few days ago and run with hills and scenary! All thanks to the HRM and knowing exactly how many calories I was burning. It was definitely worth the price and you picked a good brand IMO.

Thank you all for the response. I guess I am going to give the HRM a try and will let you all know how I like it.
