I live in the dorms at my college and there's a really nice free workout room with tredmills and ellipticals and also a track. For the past week, I've been getting up at 6:30 every morning to work out before my 8 am classes *yuck* but I'm already getting bored with doing the 30 minutes speed walking or on the elliptical machine. I'm a little embarassed about trying to run on the track because I am not a runner at all. Maybe in a few weeks I'll try it? Anyways, does anyone have any fun workouts I can do for 30 minutes every morning? Or just general tips?

I like the Slim in 6 video series. You would probably have enough space to do them in your dorm room.0

I do an elliptical for 20-40 mins everyday, and when I start to get bored, I create a new playlist to workout to. The new, or even just rearranged, pumped up workout music really helps!0

If you're interested in starting running, you can try Couch to 5k. Program specifics are at coolrunnings.com, or there are podcasts and smartphone apps that guide you as well. Basically it's a 9 week program that gets you running.0

30 day shred is what i live by, i dont like listening to jillian so i crank the tunes. you could use discman/ipod/ portable music thingy so you dont wake up any of the others in the dorm.
i find that you can make your workout enjoyable just by listening to some of your favorite pumpin music, helps me anyway. good luck with your journey!0 -
I recently started doing Zumba and I really love it. It's basically dancing and it's a great cardio workout.0

check your course catalogue for fun phys ed classes. They are usually one credit courses and meet once per week so it would break up your "boring" routine a little, without spending a lot of money. Plus, it's much more fun to sweat with a group0

Hi!
You should get into some resistance training. It burns calories, and a good session with some weights will have you burning even after you've finished.
Invest in a set of decent sized handweights, and look up some exercises online- like squats, lunges, curls. You can work all parts of your body, it's free (besides the initial investment of the weights- they're cheap in places like target etc) and you can do it in the comfort of your home, or the little workout room.
You could combine some cardio workout you do on the machines with some weights to mix it up a bit. It could even get you started running. Run for 2 mins, then weights for 2 mins, and then keep changing it up. Interval training has been proven to be very effective results wise. if you do an online search of interval training you'll find tons of small routines you could do yourself.
Smart women should use weight to lose weight!!
Just always enjoy what you're doing!0 -
Resistance work is really good as you do not need alot of specific equipment and anyone can do it. If you are stuck for ideas go to womensfitness.co.uk, the site is excellent and has loads of workout ideas. You can specify which part of the body you want to work and the pictures are very clear.
Hope this helps. X x0 -
