Can't get out of bed

Lately I have been working out in the morning which I like because then I have my nights free and I know how many calories I have to work with. I try to set a schedule of 5 days, taking Tuesdays and Saturdays off. Most days I can get up, but it seems one day each week I just can't make it there, like today. The alarm went off at 5am and there was just no way I was getting out of bed. Is my body telling me I need more rest and should only work out 4 days, or am I being a wimp and just need to make myself go?

i would try the 10 minute rule. if you are working out at home, make yourself go at it for 10 minutes, and if you still feel exhausted once that is up, go back to bed - you gave it a go. i usually find that once i go for 10 minutes, i'm good. but sometimes my body's still saying 'no way!' if you are working out elsewhere, maybe you could just standk up and walk around for 10 minutes before you leave the house. also, you could always have an evening workout in the case you sleep in. good luck!

I would like to give you and anyone for that matter props for waking up early in the morning to go to the gym. I have tried that before and I'm pumped about it the night before...and then when my alarm goes off at 5 in the morning its just not happening. So I'm jealous that you can get up and go to the gym early in the morning! Good Job!

I give myself 5 - 10 minutes to lay in bed and then get up and put my work out clothes on right away. Once you are dressed, it feels like you are committed to the work out. I like to leave for the gym by 5:30 but I need to drink my hot water and lemon before I go.

I work out 5 days a week but take both Sat/Sun off, I like having the two days together. I've also struggled this winter to get out of bed, especially since the time change. It is so dark outside, I really feel like my body clock is off. I did sleep in a few days right after the time change but have been doing much better now and some days I'm back to waking up before my alarm goes off. I've started noticing it's staying light out later and getting lighter earlier. I wonder if our body clocks adjust with the darkness? How did people get up before alarm clocks if the sun/light didn't wake them?

I would try to push yourself to get up, those days I was sleeping in only made me want to sleep more, the exercise makes me have more energy than the sleep.

Since you workout so much it is possible that you are over training, especially if you're doing weights. Your muscles need time to recover, about 48 hours.. If you're that exhausted maybe you should take some time off to let your body recover.
  • I feel the same way! I was doing so well @ the start of the year and this past week or so I have not been able to get out of bed. The alarm goes off and I reset it!

I'm going to start back Monday - going to bed maybe a half hour earlier and seeing if that works... I have to tell myself I'm not going to loose weight by laying in bed!

We can do this - We should start a routine... Mon-Fri work out take the weekend off and let each other know how were doing that way we are being held accountable, because we actually have to check in!
