Hello! So I'm sitting here trying to figure out where I want to transfer to. I will either transfer to Colorado State University or Ohio State University for wildlife biology.

I'm an Ohio resident so OSU would be cheaper, but I like to travel. I haven't lived there since I was old enough to move out!

Is there anyone here who either lives in Fort Collins, CO or Columbus, OH or who are residents of these states that can give me some input? My family and friends are biased on me heading back to Ohio so I need to look for outside sources.
I'd like to hear what you have to say! :)

That's the first thing you have ever said that I can agree with.
  • I'm looking more for the quality of life in each state than the schools, I know enough about the programs. I've never been to CO but I can imagine it's much better than Ohio even though I do love Ohio. Thanks!

Actually, OSU has some pretty good academic programs and the lifestyle there is really good. My sister came from that area and still lives there. They love it. It's a very young town with academics and families. I'd say it's a true college town. Also, there are tons of places to hike within the area/region so you can be outdoorsy.

I would recommend maybe visiting the college in Colorado to make sure it's what you want. You'll want to talk to students and find out whether getting places will require a car. There's a lot to college and it's more than lifestyle. I know some students prefer a campus where you can walk, catch buses and not have to drive. It can save you a lot of money. Both are great places to live but if you've never been to Colorado...go there. I would start hunting for a good deal or maybe do a road trip. I don't know if you're just starting out but you plan on investing four years of your life so you want to be sure of your selection. Last but not least, do make sure they have the degree programs you want. You're not paying for a cheap education - it's going to cost you and you want to make sure they have what you want to study.

As a graduate of CSU and long time resident of Fort Collins I can say both are wonderful. The town is very biker friendly and backs up to the mountains with several national parks with in a short distance. Ft. Collins has alot to offer as far as arts, nature and good people. CSU has a big "green" push. If you have any specific questions please message me and I'll be happy to answer.
