weight down but no "results"

Hi everyone!

I'm having a problem. I am (slowly) beginning to lose weight after tracking my food/exercise for about a month and a half. Before starting MFP I was a healthy eater but had trouble with portion control and snacking. I'm short, only 5ft tall, so losing almost 7 lbs should make a difference. Shouldn't it??

My problem is that I don't feel like I see any real results, except for the scale. I'm still carrying a lot of weight in my midsection/thighs, my clothes aren't fitting any differently, and while I feel healthier and more active I'm pretty upset about my lack visible progress.
Where did 7 lbs go?

I'm feeling frustrated and despondent. Any advice?

    Hiya

I know what you mean - I've lost weight, and I've gone down a clothes size (and bra size), but when I measure my waist and hips, they've not changed (they tend to fluctuate between 0.5 and 1 inch). People have been noticing my weight loss as well which has been great (when I tell them how much I've lost, they think it's a lot more), but I don't always see it myself.

I think it's because we live in our bodies 24-7 and small changes aren't as noticeable to us as they may be to other people. Has anyone else noticed the difference in your body? It was when I lost about 7lbs that people started commenting on the change in my body etc...

Where people have the problem of the scale number not budging but seeing differences in their measurements, I'm getting the opposite of a change in the scale number but measurements remaining the same (with the exception of some clothes etc...)

7lbs is a great loss though and you should feel proud of it - you seem to have lost it in a healthy way too - not too fast and doing all the right things - keep up the good work and you'll see changes in no time

    Keep smiling:smile:

It just all depends on your body - some body types show results quicker than others. I've lost almost 20 lbs and not a single inch or clothing size. It'll happen. Just keep at it and pretty soon the results will start showing more rapidly.

    You've lost seven of these:

    Still disappointed?

ETA: Also...a tape measure will often tell you what your eyes will not.

Other people will notice the change / loss before you do. You see yourself everyday, and if they don't, they'll notice it right off the bat. Some of that weight you lost may have been water weight etc, and you lost a little bit in different sections of your body, making it more difficult to see results. You'll start to see it eventually, I promise. Just keep at it, and one day you'll look in the mirror and be like "whoa, I HAVE lost weight." And when you finally see it, you'll be beaming :)

Don't be discouraged, set mini goals like 10% lost. I didn't really see much difference until I hit my 10% mark, after that....WOW! And when it starts you will be amazed! Keep working!!

Don't worry, I've been at the same pant size after losing 30lbs total. Sometimes it depends on where you're losing it first. I lost some around my legs/butt area and I still had to wear my same size pants. I'm just now starting to notice everything feeling a bit loose. It'll happen before you know :)

If you're like me it came off your boobs first :( It could be from little things like fingers, face etc also. If you've lost 7 already you are doing great and will see the results!

mostly yoga - a fairly "active" type, 3 x a week, as well as walking A LOT. i rarely use my car, so all my errands etc. are on foot. I know I should up my real cardio but I don't have the money for a gym and its been way too hot this summer to do stuff outdoors.

^ in reply to the question about exercise. new-ish to the forums, I guess I still haven't exactly figured things out :ohwell:
