Insanity Workout

Does anyone here do the Insanity workout? If so, what do you think about it!! I am contemplating starting it this weekend and was curious about the results and if its ok to start it as a beginner. It's been about a decade since I have done anything other than taking a 45 min walk or using the eliptical trainer. I can use all the help I can get!! :)

I had been doing the insanity workouts up until 3 weeks ago. I started this program after doing Zumba for about 4 months. Insanity is HARD! On the first day i did this program i was so tired it took me a couple of hours just to recover enough to finish my day. If you are just starting out you may want to start with something easier and work your way up to this. Just my recommendation. You may be a lot tougher then I am. :)

Insanity is aptly named. It is insane. I've been doing it for about 6 months on and off because I'm terrible at following a plan haha, if you haven't done any sort of high intensity workouts I would suggest building up to it. But it DOES get you fit fast! It's crazy insane and just gets harder as you progress. I say go for it! Just be prepared to give it your all and be ready to be sore!! Haha! Good luck!!!

I just did Insanity - I quit in week 8 (I lost my motivation and realized I missed the atmospher at the gym too much)...I would not recommend starting with Insanity if you are not in realatively good shape....I had been working out 6 days a week for year and a half before I did Insantiy and it kicked my butt....have you looked into Jillian Michaels DVD's? Ripped in 30, 30 Day Shred, No more trouble zones, killer legs and thighs....I would start with those, if you make it through them...move on to Insanity..

I would never really discourage someone from trying something, but my thoughts are if you try something that is crazy, you may give up to easily???

My daughter has been doing this workout with her friend for several days now and tells me it is very intense. There is a lot of jumping, squats, and high level cardio workouts in the DVD set. Before beginning the videos I would recommend starting with an easier workout and working your way up.

However, Insanity does come with a fitness test that has you try out every move the DVDs have so you can see if the workout is good for you. Unfortunately, the fitness test is only available when you buy the DVDs. Maybe you can find it on YouTube? If you can, I would recommend trying that out before spending a ton of money on the DVDs.

Insanity is HARD! But it also helps you find your potential! He allows you to go at your own pace. Reminds you to take a rest. You may want to start moving before starting but I love it. It's so challenging physically and mentally. I am ending Week 2 of Month 2 now...I feel so much more alive, confident and have had great results. I attached a pic of results from Day 1 - Day 30! :) Results for Month 2 have already been greater but that has to wait! :) Good luck to you.

It is intense but even the folks on the video drop out and take breaks if you watch closely. You can start with something less intense like P90X CardioX or another program or you can do Insanity and take more rest periods. The thing is that you have to build up stamina and endurance somehow ...

If you do it, keep your jumps low (barely bring feet off ground), take extra breaks and listen to your body. If it says stop - slow down and see if you can hang a little longer. If not, stop and take a break.

If you like a challenge, go for it... if you want something that will be an solid burn and but not make you want to die... try 30 day shred first (not saying its easy, but its easier and shorter intervals).
I personally gave it a shot when i was just starting to lose weight (2nd week on this website i believe), it was hard but I did it... well all but the last two weeks, but that is a whole different story.
In short, if you want it and are diligent it is do-able, even if you aren't in shape. However, if you can't do a single push-up... you may want to work on that first....

i've been working out pretty hard on my own for about a year, running, trail running, swimming, biking, various strength training exercises, zumba, etc. I started insanity this week and it's kicking my tail, I haven't felt this out of shape since I first started working out. It's crazy. That being said my good friend had back surgery in january and 6 months later, at 300 pounds and very out of shape, he started doing insanity (all monitored by a doctor) loves it and is doing great with it. It's hard work, you'll find that you have to push yourself further than ever but he does constantly talk about saftey and good form and making sure you rest if you need to.

I think that is a good idea. My suggestion is Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred! :) Good luck! :) And Thank you!

hello. i did insanity twice now. the first time i did it all the way through and lost 12 pounds & i ate whatever i wanted. the 2nd time i ate healthier but only did about 5 weeks of it this time i lost 10 pounds. I'm getting ready to start it back up this week and plan on eating better and finishing it so i can make it to my goal weight. Even though i lost 12 pounds it looked like i had lost 20 due to how much it tones you!

I started this the first time when i was 17. i was very out of shape and this was the only real workout i ever did. its rough but you can make it through and each day you do get stronger. so if you're up for the challenge i say just go for it but do it at your own pace!

I just started my LAST WEEK of the insanity program and I feel sooo much better about myself. I have lost 27 pounds and I am trying to lose a total of 30 pounds by the end of the program! Insanity is very difficult but only do as much as you can. I bought a heart rate monitor and it helps me keep track of the calories I burn so I can log it in my diary on myfitnesspal. I still can't keep up with the people in the video but I am giving it my all and thats what matters. I am going to take a week to recover and then start insanity again. I am excited to see my before and after pictures once I am done. good luck to everyone and STAY STRONG!! The results are worth it!
