What would you do if you won the lottery?

I've long had a wish to open up two homes -- one for victims of domestic violence, and one for kids "aging out" of state care. The idea behind both is just to provide a safe place to recover, rebuild, and eventually move out on their own -- but not in a rushed process; they could stay a couple years if they were meeting the requirements.
It'd start with free rent (with time limits, obviously), then increasing rent as a percentage of their income once they started back in the work force. It'd have job counseling, psychological counseling, live-in support (and "den parents" for the kids' house), a makeover closet for job interviews -- and as much of that as possible to be run by former residents volunteering.
I would LOVE to make that a reality.
Oh, and I'd buy a great house to live in with my family.0 -
"Two chicks at the same time."
Just 2? Ye of so small dreams!
"Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money. "0 -

"Well, you don't need a million dollars to do nothing, man. Take a look at my cousin: he's broke, don't do ****."0 -
plan, quit my job, donate, save, and then shop, shop, shop... i would love to win the lottery!0

Between my family and my wife's family there are 12 couples including parents. I would make a contract like we all bought the ticket and divide the money between all 12 couples.
Kat (my wife) and I would buy a Class A mobile home and enclosed trailer, put the bikes and a jeep in the trailer and off we go.
I really like the idea to find the neediest family I can and sell my house to them for $1.00... really cool thing!
That would affect the most people that I love and cherish.....0 -
First and foremost donate 10% to our church
Pay off our debt and the debt of our families
Put money aside for my daughters education and trust funds
Quit work..volunteer more
Pay for at minimum 1 mission trip a month which our church helps with.
then of course frivolous stuff
new cars
new wardrobe
vacations...0 -

Pay off all my bills and buy a modest house. Then I would pay off my parent's mortgage and buy my MIL a little house (and hire her a 24 hour on-call maintenance man so my husband doesn't get stuck doing every little thing for her lol!)
Then I would set-up college funds for my nieces and nephews
Go back to school for my master's and doctorate
As for charity, i would buy new equipment and instruments for my high school band because I miss being a band geek :glasses:0 -
1. Tell my mother to quit her job
2. Give away everything I own
3. Move to Europe
4. Travel
5. Donate to worthy cause(s)
If only...0 -
1. Buy an apartment for my b/f and me to move into ($250,000)
2. Put half into a Tax-Free Savings Account to invest as well collect interest.
3. Donate to an animal charity. ($100,000)
4. Pay off one of my parents houses in Phoenix
5. Give some to my b/f (couple grand)
.
If i could win 3 million I would be happy.0 -
Depends on how much:
Below 10 Million: Give them all to my parents. They deserve a good retirement. I love my job. $10 Mill is not enough for me to retire anyways.
10-30 Million: Quit my job. Sell everything I own. Go back to Thailand and start a business
Anything above that? Same with No 2 but, no work. Just Investment.
Charity? Money to Animal Shelters. Time & Labor on what ever I feel like.
Toys? Nah... 5-6 pair of soccer cleats would do just fine. All I need is more time to myself, my girlfriend and the pets.
Oh Yeah! and a driver. I DO NOT want to drive for the rest of my life (Hate every inch of it).0 -

Depends on how much the lottery jackpot was, but assuming it was a sum that would be more than sufficient, I would:
Put 1/2 into savings and investments
Finish paying off my bills
Establish trusts for my niece, nephew and a shared trust for the rest of my immediate family
Give a sizeable sum to my closest friends
buy a private jet, have it outfitted and hire a pilot
Fly to anywhere and everywhere I choose, and stay for as long as I'd like.
Donate 10% to charities of my choice0 -

You can just go ahead and move a little bit to the left. Yeah, that's it. Great.0 -
I would buy MFP and change the name to mychitchatpal.
That would take care of all those "what does this have to do with fitness" posts.0 -

I'd set it up so that the next several generations will benefit. I'd setup a trust fund so we could live off the interest indefinitely, put a will in place so that the fund transfers to my son and then he passes it on to his kids.0
-
It would all depend on how much the lottery winnings were.0
-
I'd get health insurance... or immigrate to a country that has universal healthcare.0
