Kind of spinning my wheels here...

So here's my story.

At 24, I joined a gym and lost between 40 and 50 pounds over the course of a year.

In 2009 at 27, I moved to a different state, but I kept it off until about the beginning of this year, eating clean and exercising about 5 days a week. Stress and other factors, as well as not getting to work out as often as in the past during the day, apparently led to some weight gain. At the beginning of the year, I was up about 5-10 pounds from my lowest of around 133.

I joined another gym and started working out in the evenings again, but I had no results. I hired a personal trainer who gave me a bunch of nutritional advice that I followed but it basically only made me gain weight. He could never get me tired out with his workouts, and I was often in the gym for 2-3 hours a day, at least 5x a week. I took weekends off. I probably wasn't getting enough sleep. After my two months were up, I worked on my own using the program he'd given me. After the 90 days the program was supposed to take, I went to a different strength training routine. I was lifting heavier than any of his other female clients already and increased my weights beyond what he was having me do because it was too easy. I took a couple of weeks off to go on a business trip but ran a few miles most days during the trip.

To switch things up, I started P90x a couple of weeks ago and have been spending my lunch hour doing cardio, then p90x when I get home. If I'm not tired after p90x (frequently the case), I have started running a mile. I've lost 0 pounds since starting p90x.

I bought a bodyfat tester and received it yesterday. My weight is currently at 150 (at 5'6) with a BF% of ~23.6%....which is 1% higher than when I started with the personal trainer, where I was 144 and about a 22.5%.

This plateau is ridiculous. Am I not eating enough to lose weight? I don't think I can be working out any more than I already am. I eat fairly clean for the most part. I've also started going to bed earlier and am going to see if I can cut wheat out of my diet to see if that does anything.

If anybody has any advice, I'm all ears. For as much as I exercise, I should be a lot more cut than I am.

I'm far from an expert and my food diary needs a lot of work but I had a glance at the last few days of ur diary and I notice u are eating the same food everyday. Maybe change it up a bit.

Again I am no expert and I'm probably not practicing what I am preaching but maybe less processed and more whole foods. Chocolate chip cookies for breakfast sound yummy but everyday??
Good luck. Maybe someone will have better advice.
  • I don't really eat cookies for breakfast, it's just bad record keeping on my part since I accidentally put them there once and just never moved them (I also don't usually eat cookies, my aunt just gave them to me last week because she doesn't think I eat enough, and I need to get rid of them. I could have thrown them away but I'm in a calorie deficit, anyway. I also don't have any more.).

I wind up eating the same thing a lot because I live alone and it's easier/cheaper to make a large quantity of something and eat it over the course of a few days vs. cooking every night. My budget for food also has to be less than $50/week.
