Does anyone have a Healthier Banana Bread Recipe?

I have the perfect banana's to make banana bread however all the recipes i find are not really that healthy. Does anyone have any great recipes? thanks in advance.

I know this is not a bread recipe that I have, but if you dont want to waste your bananas, you can make these banana pancakes
One ripe banana
2 eggs or just the egg whites
Mash bananas and combine til its a batter, then throw it on a pan with olive oil or pam cooking spray and fry them like pancakes.

take your existing banana bread recipe... substitute either apple sauce or canned pumpkin for any and all oil it calls for... in equal amounts... replace 1/2 cup of oil with 1/2 cup of apple sauce or canned pumpkin... replace 1 cup of oil with 1 cup of either...
oil = either vegetable oil, butter, shortening, whatever it is the recipe calls for for that family of ingredients.
That cuts you down from 1600 calories for 1 cup of butter to 140 calories for 1 cup of apple sauce or 105 calories for 1 cup of pumpkin.0 -

Actually its already sweet enough cause the bananas are ripe but I like to top mines with peanut butter or almond butter0 -

I'll have to try that applesauce/canned pumpkin replacement. I use mostly whole wheat flour instead of the white flour it calls for too. It tastes a bit different, but everyone that ate it liked it.0

I dont have the exact recipe on me right now...I eyeball it.
These are basically the ingredients.....
3 or 4 very ripe almost brown bananas
i use unsweetened apple sauce instead of oil or butter
Eggs....maybe...for more "wet ingredient" I throw in some yougurt...any flavour I have kicking around
Some cinnamon ...yum!
then I think its 2.5 cups of flour and the usual baking soda/powder.
Stevia or sugar...1 cupish
sometimes I throw in some blueberries or if its for the kds I throw in chocolate chips...just a few
Its really yummmy.
Bake at 350 for 45 - 55 minutes if using a loaf pan...or eyeball it if making muffins.0 -
by healthy, do you mean low calorie? i don't have a low calorie recipe but i have an awesome low carb/high protein recipe.

this is a great website if you want to start looking into a whole foods type of eating style. there are no refined sugars or refined white flours in any of the recipes. almond flour is a perfect substitute for white flour...dense and packed with protein, low in carbs, high in healthy fats but definitely not low in calories.

I just had apple pancakes the other day, instead of layering on butter...I added a small layer of peanut butter and sugar free syrup, im sure that would taste excellent with banana pancakes...0 -

I replace the 1/3 cup of oil with fatfree/natural yoghurt though0 -
I just made these on Saturday and my whole family loves them. As is, it's pretty healthy, but I still replaced the all-purpose flour with .5c whole wheat flour, .5c buckwheat flour, .25c spelt flour and 2 tbs flax seed meal. I replaced the brown sugar with agave nectar (didn't need as much since it's sweeter). I did 2 large eggs as I didn't want to do the beating of the egg whites and added unsweetened applesauce in place of the oil. I had small bananas so ended up using 5 of them. Oh and I also added nutmeg, vanilla extract and almond extract. The almond extract helped give it the nutty flavor, as if it had nuts - YUM. They turned out really good. I made muffins - makes 24 muffins and froze them in serving sizes of 2 each. My next batch I plan on adding protein powder in place of one of the flours! Can't wait Stats are below - not much difference, so you can do them either way, but the different kinds of flours definitely give it more nutrition.
Stats per muffin with my changes:
Cal = 74; Fat = 1; Carbs = 16; Fiber = 2; Protein = 2
Stats per muffin BEFORE my changes:
Cal = 82; Fat = 1; Carbs = 16; Fiber = 1; Protein = 2
Low Fat Oatmeal Banana Bread
Makes 1 loaf of 10 slices
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 3 tsp canola or walnut oil
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 medium egg whites, beaten
- 3 large bananas, ripe

Have you ever added other ingredients to this recipe? I would think a little flax/chia seeds would be good or some blueberries. We go through quite a bit of bananas in our house and this looks pretty simple.
I have not added any other ingredients to the recipe. Every once in a while when I need a chocolate fix, I put some chocolate chips on a piece and melt in the microwave for about a minute.
It is very simple. My kids really enjoy helping me make it and they enjoy eating it as well.

Classic Banana Bread (Cooking Light)
2 cups all-purpose flour (can sub in partial whole wheat flour)
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe banana (about 3 bananas)
1/3 cup plain low-fat yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cooking spray Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°.
Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt, stirring with a whisk.
Place sugar and butter in a large bowl, and beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended (about 1 minute). Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add banana, yogurt, and vanilla; beat until blended. Add flour mixture; beat at low speed just until moist. Spoon batter into an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan on a wire rack; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.0
