Is potato bread healthy? I don't like wheat bread but I don't want to eat white bread either

define "healthy". It won't make you ill any more than mashed potato would. It's a starchy bread in the same way that wheat bread and white bread is starchy.

Who cares? It's yummy. If it fits into my macros, I'm gonna eat it.

It's made with potatoes AND flour, so if it's the white flour you're trying to avoid then it's not a great choice.

The biggest issue is in the cooking - it tastes best when fried in butter! You can toast it, but that really doesn't do it justice. And you can't make sandwiches out of it - "bread" is really a misnomer.

What way were you thinking of having it?

It's best served fried in butter with sausages, bacon and fried egg so healthy it wouldn't be but yummy it sure is!
  • I can make sandwiches out of potato bread. I don't know what kind you are eating but the kind I see and have had from the grocery store is sliced just like regular bread.

Ok I sense some global difference here! I'm in Ireland, and talking about the triangle or square slices that come either 4 or 8 in a pack.

I just checked the database, and Ormo or similar potato bread is about 90 calories per slice, with 20g carbs and 3g protein

I love potato bread, (referring to the sliced bread in grocery store) but I haven't had it in probably a decade. One slice of potato bread has the calories of about 2 slices of wheat bread. Just couldn't justify using nearly 400 calories on a sandwich when I haven't even put cheese or meat on it yet. I learned to like wheat bread.

This might help with the regional differences.
