Turning 30-what you did and how it was significant!

I'm turning 30 this weekend and I thought I would see how others rang in the big 3-0! Was it a milestone year? Any helpful advice? Thanks!

I turned 30 in July, I feel no different...
  • I turned 30 last week (holy crap when did I get to be an adult?!) and my husband took my to Yellowstone National Park. It was awesome!! We saw tons of animals and had tons of time together in the car with the radio off just talking and being together. No parties or presents but it was definetly the best birthday so far.

I had my first surprise birthday party when I turned 30. I had a real hard time turning thirty. I had a mini midlife crisis the months leading up to 30, but it turned out to be an okay age.
And I will be 33 in 23 days, and I'm still okay with that.

I ran 30 miles on my 30th Birthday in May of this year. Not in an organized race, just on my own, me and the tar roads. It was brutal, but it proved to myself that I am not going down hill yet, not without a fight.

infact, my profile picture is from during said run, yes. it was raining.

    Happy Birthday, welcome to 30

    Can't remember.

No. hahaha. Actually I had my first baby 3 weeks before my 30th birthday, so I went out to dinner on my birthday with just my husband (my mom was home with the baby). We weren't even through the appetizers when my milk leaked everywhere. My husband took the entrees to go while I ran for the door red-faced with a wet top.

I don't suggest this method of commemorating your birthday, however ;p

My wife gave me an over the hill party complete with black balloons. She's 3 years younger than me so she thought that was funny

I think this is me right now. I'm turning 30 in November and I'm having these 'ARGH, I hate my job and my body and my friends and my whole life and I'm gonna pack a bag and just leave' moments about every five seconds.

My husband and I turn 30 next year and we are planning a trip to Iceland to see the northern lights. To the OP, plan a weekend getaway and treat yourself to something nice!

For my 30th bday I went to Nashville, had dinner at the melting pot and went to the grand ol' opry and saw one of the best concerts. Really I lucked out at who was playing, Martina McBride, Little Big Town, and Terry Clark all preformed.

I didn't see 30 as a milestone birthday, it was just another year for me. I'm pretty certain that I went out to the same bar I always did. Big party since my bday is NYE.

I turned 30 last year - was the same as turning 18, and 21 - no big deal - then again, all I wanted was a few drinks with people that mattered - and that happened, along with a meal out with my family as well (ok, so my 30th took a whole weekend, but it was worth it  )

On the other hand, I don't feel 30 (how are you meant to feel at 30?) - I still feel and probably act like I did when I was about 15 - I don't want to grow up!!

Turned 30 last year. For me, 30 was no big. I was like, yeah, I got this. It's just a number, I'll never really be an adult anyway. 31 is getting super close now though and that means I'm IN my 30's. O.O

Well, I guess that's okay too.

Last year I threw a big party at my favorite karaoke bar and drank a ton of booze and sang songs. Good times. I do that every year, almost.

    I went to church....lol
  • It was pretty tramatic for me last year! But I said I wanted to ring in my birthday touring Napa Valley, going to wineries and getting drunk...I did and it was fab! (31 was harder than 30 though....)

One week before I turned thirty I had my youngest daughter. So I was a little distracted. In a good way. It was a good birthday.

I also had a tough time when I hit 30. I have no idea why it bothered me so much. I spent the day at the spa with my girlfriends, which did help. That being said, I love being in my 30's now! I feel like I have come into my own and really have a great sense of who I am. And I also find that I am really really looking forward to turning 40, which is four years away now. And my hubby seems to be dreading 40 and was absolutely fine with turning 30. Go figure.

I'm turning 30 in November, I knew it would be hard for me...so I made myself goals to accomplish! For one I wanted to be in the best shape I could possibly be by 30 (finally reached my goal weight and have 2 more months to build some muscle) and to run my first half marathon (Sept. 30, 2012). I'm also going to Cancun 3 days after my birthday to celebrate my 1st wedding anniversary and show off this new body of mine!!

All these things to ease into the fact that I'm going to be 30 LOL!!

I went to a very nice restaurant, Michael Symon's Lola in Cleveland, and had the best meal and bottle of wine of my life.

30 really did mess with my head. I felt like I wasn't where I wanted to be for so many reasons. I felt like this is the time to be in charge of my health and weight, if I didn't take the opportunity I'm going to wake up at 50 and be mostly dead and full of regrets.

My 30th was pretty non-eventful... but there is a much longer story entailed with that one! But it was a good party as I had a few friends come out that I haven't seen but now that I'm 34 :drinker: it keeps getting better!!

Edit: Happy Birthday by the way! Hope that you enjoy your day!

Oh. That was 18 years ago for me.. But, I do remember it.. I was active duty in the military, no wife, no kids, no real direction in life. I looked at my sister who was three years younger than me, who had kids, great marriage, great homelife, the American Dream. I got pretty depressed at how little I had done up to that point, and I just got drunk. I got so drunk, I felt 60 the next morning.. Now, in serious retrospect, I had accomplished a lot by that time in the Operations I had been a part of, all the parts of the world I had lived in and visitied, all the people I had met, and all the stories I could tell.. Amazing how your perspective changes over time. And, in time, I did (do) have my own awesome family life and American Dream. :)

I was actually at a dear friend's wedding on my 30th, it was a good night!

Turning 30 helped spur me on to look and feel better than I did in my 20's.
  • My wife went into labor with our second, and last child the evening of my 30th birthday so I don't remember much else. You would think that would make his birthday and age real easy to remember. However, I have trouble remembering how old I AM! Other than that turning 30 was no big deal.
