I think The Book People have this pretty cheap at the moment.0

^ in comment to above I think all books are better in proper form, Im a reall booky and dont get kindles, theres nothing better than holding an actual book - haha I probably sound nuts but its true!
Thank you  I'll read a Kindle on the train (well, I've downloaded it on my phone actually), but a cook book I just need to hold, haha!0 -
Although tesco direct said it was out of stock, i got it in my local store for £7.49 yesterday. Loved the show and agree it could have been longer. I also agree that they would have struggled a bit to stay at 1200 calories.0
-
It's only £7.99 on amazon for the kindle x
Why would you want in on Kindle? It's a cook book. You should always have cook books in real book form I'd think... But hey, that's your choice
I have a few on my iPad I love it and don't have to wait to get to shop or be delivered its there right away lol
Am about to download now x0 -
Hmm sorry to be the cynic/party pooper... I enjoyed the shows and the recipes are doubtlessly delicious but they made it all seem a bit too easy.
For two BIG blokes to drop from 3500+ to 1200 calories must have been difficult and required some very careful and difficult food choices...fair play to them but that wasn't reflected in the programmes. It was all like "look how easy it is! You can still eat real food!".
I agree you can. BUT, I would like to have seen how (in addition to 'spending' 500-600 cal on dinner) they kept to 600 for the rest of the day - including breakfast, lunch, drinks, snacks. Now that's what people really want/need to see.
For me - I'm on 1290/day (down from 1360 - seems MFP has punished me for losing weight ). I use Graze boxes to get me through the day , some are only 50-80 cals each and provide tasty snacks to keep me going in between meals. Although 1290 is going to be a stretch for the foreseeable, might have to revise my weekly loss amount down if it gets too tricky!0 -
Cajun Chicken and potato wedges only about 300 calories let you know what its like0
-
I'm gutted that I missed it all, well I think I caught a few minutes of one episode but that was all.
I'll keep a look out and see if it'll be repeated
iplayer should still have a couple left.0 -
I have adapted a couple of recipes to make them vegetarian, which often makes the calorie count lower. The lasagne idea with the leeks works fine, although be prepared for the sheets to be a bit stringy.
Have to say that several of their recipes need a bit of altering to fit my calorie balance, but the ideas are good. I intend to try making a pie using the packet pizza base idea for pastry. But it'll need to be a veggie one!0 -
peppered steak and wedges tonight with mushrooms it was lovely0

The show really got me motivated to do this site and get the weight off. Enjoyed it and I hope the Hairy Bikers make another series.

I find it to be proper food not the normal cardboard rubbish out there0
-
I love it! I tried out their chili salad bowls recipe, it was really good!0
-
I saw a nice recipe on the solitary episode I've seen... A chilli in a wrap 'bowl' with salad, cheese and sour cream... yum!0
-
It was something I never thought I'd see Si & Dave do, but I loved it. Although I did feel rather sorry for them when they were down at 1200 cals per day........poor sods!
The book is great, folks.......get a copy if you can!0 -

That's exactly how I ended up here!
Cannot get the book for love (not that I've tried lol) nor money, so I have pre-ordered it.
Thus far had the korma, sweet n sour chicken, lasagne, chilli and cupcakes. All lovely!
Interesting so many people said 1200 was low? Is that because they are men?0 -
Chicken and ham tangle pie this evening we have done 4 recipes all great and proper grub0

I love them there great, I am glad we have recorded it as we were away & missed two.
I will try the recipes & i am going to do the breakfast one right now.0 -
I have the book and watched the shows and yes some great recipes however I would say 1200 calories is very low I understand that what they were doing.
I am sticking to around 1500 to 2000 calories a day which you can view on my diary
I agree. I thought 1200 was very low for big guys who were eating well over 3500 to start with and who had taken up exercising. Realistically, they could probably have lost a bit of weight even at 2500 calories. If I was them, I think I'd have gone for somewhere around 2000. I suppose they needed a more dramatic weight loss for the TV show, though.0 -
A really good book and very tasty recipes. I especially like their chicken Korma.0

some shops still seem to have the books in, though they are out of stock online. I got mine from my local tesco on saturday for £7.49 and they had a few copies left.
Trying the lasagne this week - will try more next week but only got it after I'd done my meal plan. Am hoping it doesn't taste too strongly of leek as my husband is not a big fan. But worst comes to worst I can do it with courgette or aubergine next time in place of the leek. Have altered it a bit to suit us - I don't think I'm actually capable of cooking a recipe without tweaking.
I am actually impressed though, the recipes look good and tasty which makes a change for a 'diet' cookbook.
I know the programme said they were on 1200cal a day but the introduction to the book implies it was more like 1500-1600.0 -
I cant praise it enough really nice meals I am sticking around 1500 cals per day and losing weight and not hungry0

How 'leeky' is it? I love leek, but my partner is a sod to try to get veg into so the leek component may prove a little problematic.0 -
So far we've had the cassoulet, chilli salad bowls and the masala marinated chicken - all delicious however the chilli salad bowls ended up being 550 cals each as we used 500g mince instead of 300g (as that was the size of the pack of mince)! Still waiting for book......should be arriving next week. We've got skinny lasagne on the menu for this week too!0
-
I got the book after the first episode was aired at Tesco's. I've had loads of the recipes out of them. Soooo tasty. The curry's are lovely0
-
Yeah, I've made the pies. They were brilliant! 330 calories too!0
-
Oh yeah, and the korma. Great taste for a low cal option.0
-
I missed the programmes, unfortunately, but was really interested in the getting the book when I heard it was being realised. Now that I'm taking this weight loss seriously, I suppose I should get looking for somewhere that has it in stock!0
