Still fat, but feel slim

Does it make sense to lose just a little bit of weight (I've lost only 27 pounds of the 150 I want to lose). I have noticed a loss in inches as well, but not enough to buy new clothes yet. That being said, I just feel slimmer, though at more than 300 pounds I am still obviously a fat guy.
Why is it I feel slimmer, though really, I'm not? Believe me, I have no false delusions about my appearance.

But you are! Maybe you're not "slim" yet, but you are slimmer. It's an awesome feeling to realize that you're moving in the right direction, to be able to look in the mirror and think "I look better today than I did yesterday." Embrace the feeling, it will keep you motivated and keep you moving!0

^ This! You are slimmer today than you were yesterday! When I first started I found I was losing inches as much as I was losing lbs. It's the inches lost that make you feel slimmer.0 -

And its clear that your self image is improving, so embrace it. My self image is much much much much lighter than my reality. Some days I prefer my self image than that person in the mirror!! Congrats on your weight loss, that's a big number you can be proud of.0

congrats and yes it makes sense to me since I could feel the same difference, heck I could tell you which days the scale would go down just by the way I felt. I started my journey at morbidly obese and I am getting very close to being "overweight" and have never been more excited because I already feel normal by any other standards. I shop in the normal womans section not the plus size section, I have not had any activities limited by my health or mobility and my mood is much improved. 10 lbs, 20, 50 etc it's all a win!0

You may not be skinny, but you are thinner than you were, and it makes a difference! I weight 256 pounds, but I have lost 80, and I FEEL like a thin person! THings that used to be difficult or tiring are not anymore, and it has changed so many things for me. So I think it is normal to feel that way. Just enjoy it!0

If you are used to having a full stomach from overeating, and now you eat an appropriate amount, the "feeling slimmer" might also have to do with the fact that you feel lighter because you are, literally, emptier. At least, it's something that I experience. I know I'm still fat, lol, but I feel a lot lighter than I was just 3 months ago.0

Pick up a 25lb dumbell, then put it down. THAT's why you feel slimmer! It's that much weight your knees, hips, and back no longer have to support... maybe you're noticing that you're able to move with a little bit more ease? I know my joints are the first parts of my body to say "thank you!"

It's called hope. And you're slimmer than you were. I lost over 100 but I felt so much better after that first 20. I knew from there I could do it.0

You do realize that in just 3 more pounds, you will have reached a milestone: 20% of your target weight loss?!?!?!?! That is AWESOME! That is amazing. Of COURSE you feel slimmer; You ARE!!!! Plus, all those pounds that you have gotten rid of, affected your flexibility. You not only look slimmer, feel slimmer, but can DO more. Isn't it great?!?!?!?! Way to go!!!!0

That is SOOOO fantastic! Congratulations for all the hard work! I like the comment about picking up a 25 pound dumbbell. What an accomplishment.
Not sure if you are doing any strength training, but once I incorporate that into my weight loss program, it's almost an instant slimming feeling for me. I've heard other people saying how surprised they were by that as well. If you aren't strength training, give it a try (get help or training if you are a beginner). It is SO worth it. It'll give you that extra spring in your step.0 -

You feel slimmer because you are slimmer. You are still very fat, true, but 27 pounds is a lot of weight. That's the size of a toddler!! Just imagine carrying a small child around all day and then putting it down. Of course you feel lighter. Way to go! Keep it up, you WILL reach your goal weight.0

I think also, in order to lose the weight, you might be doing things you associate with thinness, like watching your diet and getting exercise. I also feel MUCH thinner than I look. I have clothes that fit and look nice, take care of my skin and exercise. You might not think 25 lbs is a lot of weight, but like a few other posters said, it is! To me, feeling this way is a reward and a motivator to keep going!0

I'm experiencing the same thing. I've lost 50 lbs, which is a lot, but I'm still 200lbs at 5'2. Still, I feel like hot stuff. LOL

You are slimmer! I have personally seen it!!
What you are focusing on is the end goal...you have not really seen how far you have come...and you "feel" slimmer because your mind says you are.
Also, if you see how much exercise you are doing compared to what you use to do...WOW...what a difference...plus you're overall health is increasing.
Are you where you want to be? NO! Are you going in the right direction. YES! So keep it up.
I have lost only 1 pound (in a month) but I feel better physically and I think I feel slimmer in the waist. I only need to lose about 15#...but...my health conditions are many and makes it difficult to lose it fast. I am not going to give up and I look forward to being able to wear my suit again.

I understand the feeling. I started at 260 pounds and now I'm at 182.6 and while I'm still 32 away from my goal, I feel fabulous and slim. It is a wonderful feeling.0

I feel that way too actually. And I know exactly what you mean about walking around feeling slim and then looking in a mirror or seeing a picture and realizing you don't really look like you feel. I didn't have much much to lose, but I still have this belly I'm trying to ditch. I was feeling really good at this concert wearing this skirt I used to wear all the time when I was thinner and apparently sans belly. Then I saw a picture of me on my husband's iPhone. Ugh!! I didn't look nearly as good as I felt. I don't FEEL like I still have this belly, but there it was in all its glory! Smaller, probably, but that's not the point.
Like others have said, don't let this get you down. You ARE slimmer. And 24 lbs is A LOT. Good job!!0 -

Well if you consider that 27 lbs is about the average weight of a 2yr old then you will probably feel better about yourself now!!!

The next time you go to the store grab one of those small shopping baskets go to an aisle with cans, take 27 of the 1 pound cans and put them in that basket, then carry it around the store. You'll be amazed how tired you get and you did that every day,every time you stood up. I'm down 61 pounds that is the weight of my second cousin, I'm still 298 pounds so I'm still a big man but I feel so much thinner. Keep at it and you will get the weight off and look how you feel.
