What am I doing wrong?

Hi there...I'm at a plateau, and not really sure what to do next.
I started out almost a year ago with a simple 1 mile walk. I was 205 lbs, Type 2 Diabetic and knew I had to make a change. I bumped that 1 mile walk to 2 miles, and then 3.
I started adding in Power 90 along with my walks, and everything was going great! I decided to start C25K, and kept doing my Power 90. I've been doing C25K on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Power 90 Sculpt on those days. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, I've been doing Power 90 Cardio/Abs. Sunday is "rest" day.
The more I added to my exercise routine, the SLOWER my weight loss. What can I do to jumpstart the weight loss to lose these last 30 lbs?

And I might add I'm still eating the same way I was when I changed the diet. Low carb, no white foods, etc. And I'm drinking the recommended water as well.0

This may be a given, but you dident mention if you were tracking and under your calories. As many people on here say..you cant out exercise a bad diet.
If your calories and macros are on track AND you are doing the exercise, you should be losing. If you hit a plateu you need to change some stuff up...bump calories up a bit and change your exercise routine.
*EDIT* You added the next post after I posted claiming you are still eating on your calorie goal, so disregard my diet portion. I would say you need to change up the exercise. Start doing a different rotation of weights...or maybe some HIIT.0 -
I've been under calories, spot on on calories, and even bumped up calories...to be honest the calories thing confuses the heck out of me!!0

I took a peek at your diary. Even though you're near your calorie limit most days, you've got lots of fast food meals on there. Calories might be within range, but the sodium in even the healthiest choices there can cause you to hold water weight & significantly slow you down. (I know....I've had the same problem.) Also, your snacks seem to be a lot of high sugar stuff like candy bars & doughnuts. Try fresh fruits & veggies or something in place of these.
If you're still kicking it with the exercise program you're on, it's gotta be the diet causing you to plateau.
Good luck & best wishes in the last leg of your journey. You're in the home stretch!0 -
Yeah...I've considered the snack thing, and some of the foods. I'm going to revamp the diet and get my fruits and veggies back on track, and definitely lower the sodium. Thanks for the input!0

This reply made me take a look at your diary. First of all, you are barely tracking...how do you know you are spot on with your diet? Second of all, you are taking in a ton of sodium like she said.
You need to start wanting this badly enough to track everything everyday....no excuses, and cut out the junk food. You do these two things and I bet your weight loss will pick up right where you left off.0 -
I noticed that there are a lot of days that you did not log in your diary. I would really recommend logging everything down to the last bite. On the days that you did log I noticed -
a lot of processed foods and fast foods
very low protein intake (MFP settings are set too low, you should shoot for about 100g's a day)
very few fresh fruits and veggies (this is the problem with 'low carb' diets....people eliminate the 'good' carbs)
It's best to ditch the McDonalds for a healthy turkey sandwich on wheat bread (yes bread)
Also are you strength training?0 -
I COMPLETELY agree that my diet is less than stellar. It sucks to be in a rush in the morning and forget to bring the healthy lunch, and opt for fast food.
I appreciate each and every comment, and I knew when I posted that I was opening myself up to some criticism! It's all welcome, and surely something I need to see to switch things around! I've added some bread back to the diet (whole wheat), but of course I've added the not-so-good stuff.
I'm going to review my meals and my numbers, make some tweaks and go from there...Thanks everyone!!0 -
It took me a while to understand "quality" over "quantity" when it came to calories. Try planning meals out ahead of time so you can eat a bit healthier. Try to commit to it for one month to see how it goes. Consistency is key to see a change.
My lunch is usually a salad of mixed greens, bumble bee salmon (from the pouch), lemon juice, and feta cheese. It just takes about five minutes to throw together in the morning. Check out my diary if you want
You can do it! Good luck!0 -
