Hi all,
I went on a fishing trip yesterday and we caught a butt load of fish. When we divided up the take I now have 25 lbs of fish (mostly halibut) that I've get to keep for myself. I'm looking for any healthy and innovative recipes you can give me. Thanks in advance!

Chowder.
All you need are onions, potatoes, bottled clam broth, the fish, salt/pepper/celery salt, and light half and half. Cook the onions a bit with butter flavored cooking spray. Parboil the potatoes (cut up). Cook the fish gently in a little clam broth. Put the rest of the broth in a pot and add 2 cups of water with the seasoning. Put the potatoes in to cook a little longer, when they're tender add the onions and fish and let simmer for 10 minutes. Add the half and half and heat through, don't let it curdle. You might want to add parsley on top to make it look nice.0 -
I am so jealous. We love halibut, but don't have it often because it can be almost $20 a lb.
It's a really hearty fish, so it can take on lots of flavor. I like a really light dredge of flour, lemon pepper, lime rind, garlic, salt and pepper, and then dry fry it, or in a pan with a spray of oil.
Bake it with slices of lemon, and garlic. Or you can make oven fish iand chips (minus the chips). Just bread it in a pank, salt, pepper, some herbs, and bake.
Grill, steam, poach, fry, bake.... I think I am like Forrest gump0 -

I eat my salmon pretty simply...squeeze of lime and lemon juice, thyme, rosemary, oregano, black pepper and a little salt, baked in the oven...makes it soft and flavorful0

NOW, someone like you, Meeka, could swap out the ready-made bottled dressing for some other healthier homemade dressing.
and here is great salmon recipe, cuz grilling fish, well, fish DOES fall apart easier on the grill, so THIS recipe is nice: http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/grilled-cedar-planked-salmon-60595.aspx
----again, someone purist like you, Meeka, could swap out that bottled dressing for some other homemade dressing. ENJOY!0
