Do I need to worry about potassium?

I am consistently under by 50% or more on postassium (been counting for a week now) but hitting all of my macro goals and other vitamins (iron, Vitamin C, A, D, etc.). Should I be worried? What are some foods I should include in my diet for potassium intake?

Sweet potatoes are high in potassium, and very good for you! Also broccoli. also bananas.
You need potassium for your muscles (heart too) it is a pretty important nutrient, but I am not an expert. I am sure someone here knows a lot about it.

Ive read the potassium usually isnt tracked on food labels, thus not tracked much in MFP (which relies on the labels). So your probably getting more than you see
  • Thanks guys! Anyone else out there?
  • I have only ever looked into potassium in relation to water retention. I don't track it on here but I ALWAYS have a banana a day to counter balance water retention - which I have a major problem with in my legs. Within half an hour of eating one I can get my wedding ring off my finger.

Might start tracking it now, curious now!

Same problem here. I looked at potassium supplementation but each pill is only 3% of daily recommended value.
Even eating a banana won't really bump it up.
Not sure what to do either.
  • I notice that broccoli, spinach, and salmon have lots of potassium...maybe try that?
  • According to MFP, I get twice the amount of potassium from a single wholemeal pita bread then I do from a banana. That's really surprised me.
