Not too proud of myself right now....

Just got back from vacation last night & got on the scale to see that I've gained 2-3 pounds during my week of vacation. While I was away I got in a few work outs, but wasn't able to do as much cardio as I normally do. I ate really good the first few days. Then I just went crazy and starting eating tons of carbs & sweets. So I can't blame anyone but myself, I knew what I was doing. Ugh, well tomorrow is the start of a new week and we are at the beginning of the month so I'm in reset mode. I'm going to log in my weight and measurements tomorrow & start fresh.

That's all you can do, no need to dwell on the past just make the changes necessary and work toward the future. You can do this!0

You went on vaca and only gained 3 pounds, right on, wicked job, that is excellent. Most people gain 5 pounds on a weeks vacation, you beat the norm. Don't beat yourself up, let yourself enjoy the week you just had and get back on your routine now.0

It was vacation. I hope you enjoyed yourself, AS YOU SHOULD when on vacation.
Now, get back on the plan. You have to find a way to balance your fitness goals with your life. When I go on vacation it's LOOK TEH F@#$ OUT SIDESTEAL IS EATING and not a single calorie is even thought about, much less tracked.0 -
Stay positive. When I first joined MFP last year I weighed less then before I started again a little over a month ago I weighed more now. So although I was loosing weight my countdown ticker didnt move yet  Then right before I went on vacation it said I lost 1 pound FINALLY! Then After vacation I weighed myself and gained two pounds....the 1 pound was gone but I didnt let it discourage me and I got it right back within a week. You will be fine. Just go back to your normal routine and it'll be off in no time. :happy:0

Vacation weight won't last once you get back into your routine. I hope you had a great time!0

Did you have a good vacation though? Thing is, chances are those 2-3 lbs aren't fat anyway, at least not all of it. An increase in carbs will make you retain water, as will an increase in sodium, if you had that too. Give it few days of eating and exercising as normal, and you'll probably find that the pounds quickly come off again.0

This! I had a mini vacation last week (4 days) and things went a little crazy!0 -
Only 3? WTG!0

We all backslide now and tehn. It is important to know no one ins perfect and not to get too depressed about it. Depression leads to stress, stress leads to weight gain.
Just get back on the right track again.0 -
It was your vacation and that is normal when we go on vacation....forgive yourself.0

Drink a ton of water today and tomorrow and try to eat as cleanly as possible. Get on the scale again the day after tomorrow and you may be pleasantly surprised...most of that weight is probably just water retention from eating more sodium than you normally eat. I came got back from vacation last week absolutely disgusted to see I'd gained about three pounds, but within two days of "detoxing" I was right back to where I started. It's probably not fat you gained, so don't panic! (:0

WEll, I agree with so many who commented here. I really could not be FAT. I think so much is just water weight. Once we start being healthy and eating lighter, I think the body goes in to WTF mode when we go off that routine even for a day or two! But it is temporary!
I am going tomorrow on VACA for 4 days. I know I will consume more calories and my usual squeaky wheel, WINE! But once I get back, back to it! Plus, I do plan on exercise at least 3 of the 4 days!
You will be back down and that 3 pounds gone in no time at all!!!!!:flowerforyou:0 -
You should be proud of yourself for not gaining any more than that. You can lose those few pounds quickly. You got this!0

I just want to say how glad I am that I found this community. I had MFP downloaded on my phone for some time now. But I had no idea that there was a whole community until a week or two ago. Since I've started posting on here people have been so helpful, encouraging and kind. I have tried other similar forums before and have found then to be very cliquish & rude and sarcastic especially to new people. This place is like a breath if fresh air and I am proud to be a part if it. Thank you do, so much everyone!0

It will come off quickly. I had gained 7 pounds on my summer vacation. Yikes! But it came off pretty quickly getting back into my routine.0

I think 2-3 is awesome! IMO we all work really hard & deserve a break that's what vacations are about. It sounds like you behaved but still had fun. You didn't completely go nuts. I'm going in October (all inclusive) if I have the same results I'd be thrilled.
GREAT JOB GIRL!!!!!0 -
Ditto what's been said. You were off from life for a week you're suppose to enjoy it. I'm thinking about how to best handle my cruise in two weeks. all the food I won't be able to track well - no Internet. BUT I'm prepared to gain OR lose and get back in the game. I tell myself i can lose, cause i can be active in the day. Not my butt in my chair at work. Three lbs? You'll gave it off in no time.0

You have absolutely nothing to beat yourself up about there girl!0

If one is truly to embrace this as lifestyle change- it's important to allow for the moments in life when our normal regime might take a bit of a backseat- and ultimately and truly be okay with that. In essence, give ourselves permission to relax a bit, knowing that we will be right back to our regular routine soon. That makes this thing doable for the long term. This way it won't translate into failure when it happens- which I know can be a huge upset for many. Rather it is something you've planned for and accept the consequences going forward (transgressions are more palatable then...lol). I normally never get back on the scale til a week after I've been back on track. No matter how well prepared you might be for that possible increase...sometimes those stupid little digital numbers feel like a deal breaker. Anyhoo, this way it is actually a part of your plan, rather than being some kind of percieved failure. Sorry for droning on- but this is actually a conversation I've had with myself many times. And adopting this philosophy has helped me immensely!0

Yes, my heart broke a little when I saw the number because I haven't weighed this much in probably at least 6 months! Really I didn't want to step on the scale because I knew it was a bad idea. But, I also thought how can I start the month off right & really track my progress if I don't? But, I'm ready for a fresh start! And all the encouragement I get from this community just makes it all the easier to get back on track!0 -
I also made the experience that weight gained on vacation will be lost nearly as fast as long as you hold strict to your plans this and next week! It'll be a piece of cake (or better not... )0

I am thinking it's water weight because of eating restaurant food which is high in sodium. It's not all fat so don't get discouraged.0
