Hi there; I've recently started a new job and need some ideas for healthy snacks! I used to work from home so I haven't had to think about packing food! I can't eat Hummus or most cheese. I'm looking for low calorie, and filling! Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I work in a hospital setting and most of the time all I can do is snack. The best snack I found is the 100 calorie pack (or pack your own) nuts. I absolutely love the cinnamon roasted almonds (since I'm a diabetic I can't eat the sugar ones). Nuts are fullfilling and definitely easy to transport. Another item is freeze dried fruits (freeze dried keeps their nutrients and doesn't add the sugar). Try to stay away from salty items even thought they are tempting. The salt usually makes you drink more and retain water. If you have access to a fridge use during your shift, vegetables and fruit none stop. They do laugh at me b/c at 7pm (10hrs into my shift), I call it 7 o'clock salad and we all grab one and try to eat it at our desk before anyone comes in. That helps a lot on the temptations on the trip home.

I started a new job also, i get no breaks so all i can do is bring snacks like almonds or wheat cracker or raisins string cheese. I alway eat a snack on the way home like an apple.
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables are great. I like to take yogurt and string cheese (my work has a fridge). Nuts and sunflower seeds. And pickles!!!

I'm a fan of beef jerky and fruit at my desk.
  • I like Pistachios, Kellogg's Special K Cracker Chips (they are only 90 calories & they pack a lot in the bag), apples (I keep an apple slicer at work), and Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt (If you freeze it for a couple minutes, then you have a nice frozen treat). I also fill up a 2.2L bottle of water a day and take it with me and just keep poring it into my insulated mug with ice all day from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. It's the recommended 8 glasses a day and takes the think work out of it. One of my best investments ever! Good luck!

I take a cup of grapes, or an apple, or a cup of strawberries. I buy my fruits and have them prepared for quick grab (measured) into the snack baggies. I do the same with my veggies. Good luck
