Hi! I have a lot of weight I would like to loose before I walk the Camino in April 2013. I'm fat and not a hiker, but in the next 7 months I am going to get it together! If you live in SF and want to walk with me or have any interest in joining me on the Camino please let me know.

You are going to have so much fun...I have never done the Camino de Santiago but I have friends who live in Burgos (about 2 miles north of Madrid) and they made the trek about 8 yrs ago. They said that it was one of the most difficult things they have done but it was well worth it. I believe they biked it and did not do the entire trek. I am not sure where they started but it was somewhere close to their home. Good luck! I don't live near SF so I won't be able to walk with you and I am not working right no so I cannot afford the trip but would luv to cheer you on. Feel free to add me. Again, good luck on your adventure. Becca
  • Thank you so much! I'll add you now!
  • Doing anything like this is worth the prep.

I have just gotten myself an aim. I want to bike from Calais to Hamburg via Amsterdam. Its about 500 miles and I reckon two weeks to do it will be enough.

This was because of your walk idea. So, thanks :flowerforyou:
  • Hi,

El Camino actually passes through my hometown back in Spain (Bilbao). It is the coastal route, rather than the main route. I have friends that have done it and they say it is amazing, and they are from Spain, so I bet it is even better for someone from another country. The coastal route will take longer, but if you are an "ocean/beach" person, and would like to take advantage of good weather (when/if it comes), I would recommend it. Think of it as walking from Seattle to LA along the coast or through the interior...

good luck and !pasalo muy bien!

I just came across your post, as I'm interested in doing the Camino one day. Are you still on track to go in April?

Cool! I didn't know that. Are there places to eat and stay at short intervals on the coastal route? That sounds really nice, especially in a hot summer.
